CCC-GHC-BK1-06 Legacy and Virtue

The lands of Hawkgarth have long been known as "the Wood of Many Monsters". It is rumored that an archmage of some ancient kingdom busied himself with the creation of new and terrible beasts in this place, and champions from all over Faerûn would come to test their mettle. A blood-red beast terrorizes the villages at night, and the normally stoic residents are quick to recruit able-bodied heroes. Too bad you're not their first choice!

A Two-Hour to Four-Hour Adventure for Tier 1 Characters

About the Border Kingdoms
According to the sage Meriadas of Westgate: “The Border Kingdoms are the most favored destination for adventurers who want to proudly and boldly conquer a realm or establish their own new kingdom. Lords, counts, dukes, kings and emperors rise, proclaim themselves, and are swept away with the speed and regularity of waves crashing upon a shore.”

The Border Kingdoms is a tumultuous land between the Lake of Steam and the Shaar in the Forgotten Realms. Gamehole Con has been granted exclusive rights to develop Adventurers League content in this region, and our offerings include adventures, source material, and short stories.

One of the reviewers mentioned this was the second part of a storyline, but I can't see anyplace where it might give the first part. Does anyone know what the first part was?

I bought this in the bundle, so unfortunately cannot review it formally here. However, this is a fun, classic dungeon crawl adventure with a focus on exploration and combat. Enough role play in the initial call to action section, with my players enjoying interacting with a drunken eye witness... I was surprised at how spooked they were when the dungeon crawl switched from a pretty straight forward operation to something more sinister and for which they had not prepared. I strongly recommend this adventure for Tier 1 players - our table had some fairly new players who had only played 2 adventures previously, as well as more experienced players, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Our group easily accomplished the main plus bonus objectives within 3 1/2 hours.

Purchased this module via the bundle and noticed there were no adjustment blocks in any of the encounters (ie the recommended changes when the party is weak, strong, etc).

The adjustments are on the last page of the module. Took me a while to spot them - not typical AL-style - but they are there.

Found that section - but it only discusses the living beast, no direction on how to adjust for the non-living (or is it un-living) ones. Specifically mention the bundle version in case the individual adventure has been updated, but the bundle copy is not.

A couple of questions for Alan (about to run this):

1. Is the Crimson Fever save DC 12 or 14? It shows up both ways in the adventure.
2. Are there 2 cubs or 4 total? Again, shows up both ways in the adventure.

Thanks!

Lovely beginners dungeon-crawl. However, could we pretty-please beg for a VTT friendly players map? :)

Did you ever find and/or make maps for this? If so, I would be happy to buy them from you

Now, it's been a few years :) And perhaps someone else created some lovely maps, but back then, I ended up putting the map from the module through Paint.net to remove the room numbers. A long, tedious process, but it can out quite ok.
I'll try to share the link here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sHeooCFItyEytu-BmI9ol7raqlNnr8sT/view
All credits goes to B. Simon Smith for the original map. They have some dungeon map collections for sale through Bookshelf, but as far as I can see, they are all numbered, like the one in the module.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
