A Heroic Adventure for 1st and 2nd Characters in Ravnica, City of Guilds!

In The Heart of Svogthos, a party of daring heroes must delve into the darkest crypts of Ravnica filled with rot and reanimation to stop a necromantic storm that may devour the entire City of Guilds. This adventure pits the heroes against a powerful Rakdos champion and her minions in an encounter with multiple paths to victory! With plenty of choices available for play styles of every flavor, and unique sightseeing events tied to each of the great Guilds, this journey to The Restless Tomb is the perfect way to introduce your players to the wonders of Ravnica!

The Heart of Svogthos is designed as a 4-5 hour long adventure for characters of levels one and two, and allows players a chance to meddle in the affairs of the Boros, Golgari, and Rakdos Guilds of Ravnica, along with a guest appearance from the Orzhov Syndicate. This adventure features new monsters and magic items, powerful NPCs, mission-specific Guild Renown rewards, and player handouts for maps and story elements. Plus, this pdf is filled with links to Gatherer, the official Magic: the Gathering catalog of cards, allowing you the easy opportunity to use the art of Ravnica in your game.

Adventure Inspiration

When Ravnica was first announced as a new campaign, my eyes got wide as I thought about writing adventures in my favorite Magic: the Gathering setting. I grabbed some of my old cards and quickly laid them in an interesting sequence. Then I added some words in between to try and make a cohesive story. Here’s my first pass.

“So it’s the Festival of the Guildpact and this Oathsworn Giant asks you to go the Ghost Quarter to help a friend who carried the Pariah’s Shield get a Proper Burial. Little did that Giant know, Lyzolda the Blood Witch brought a Rakdos Riteknife to Svogthos, the Restless Tomb so now instead of Ghosts of the Innocent, it’s all Carrion Howler and Keening Banshee. Can your party summon a Concerted Effort and harness the Light of Sanction before an Unliving Psychopath manages to Empty the Catacombs and turn the Festival into a Nightmare Void?”

And that’s basically the heart of this adventure!

Played through it with my group and hate a great time!

The magic items and borderline epic PCS can get a little out of hand, but the pacing and dungeon design is simply fantastic!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
