Being a race little known by the other civilizations that walk in the Prime Material Plane (maybe the dwarves and deep gnomes being the exception), the bugfolk present an interesting opportunity for the player. Coming from the Underdark, the bugfolk have alien cultures that make them a different and refreshing option for roleplay. But they also have interesting skills that can be exploited very well by some class options, and in this way not only have an interesting PC, but also a good addition to any party.
Depending on your tastes, the player can choose between the three bugfolk sub-races: the nimble mantid, the sturdy coleop, or the mysterious lepid.

Update to v.02:
* The racial trait "Sensitive Antennae" was removed from the core race. This in order to balance the race in general and i also think that a proficiency affects the process of Min-Max, but does not really contribute to the essence of the race.
* The racial trait "Tarsal Claws" was partially rewritten taking into account the feedback received. Now it is specified that they can climb while keeping their arms free.
* Added an additional racial trait to the Mantid sub-race called "Snap". This in order to reflect the lore of this sub-race in its mechanics. Also, people where asking for a small boost for this sub-race.
* The racial trait "Striated Musculature" of the Coleop sub-race was rewritten to correct an error about the size, carrying capacity and the weight that they can push, drag or lift.
* Added an additional racial trait to the Coleop sub-race called "Underground Gatherer"; in order that the lore of this sub-race was reflected in its mechanics.
* The racial trait "Flight" of the Lepid sub-race was modified; adding a restriction for the using of shields, and forcing the creature to land after making an attack while flying.
* Art credits now are at the bottom of every image.

Update to v.03:
* The Ability Score Increase of the core race and sub-races was modified. Now the core race has +1 Constitution score increase, the mantid sub-race has +2 Dexterity score increase, the coleop sub-race has +2 Strength score increase, and the lepid sub-race has +2 Wisdom score increase. In this way, each sub-race focuses more on its own strengths.
* The racial trait "Natural Armor" of the core race was partially modified. Now the way of calculating armor class is: 12 + Dexterity modifier. This change was made to prevent overpowered AC in lower levels.
* The racial trait "Tarsal Claws" of the matid sub-race was modified. The unarmed strike was removed from this trait. It doesn't make much sense that a stealthy and dexterous creature has an strength-based attack.
* The racial trait "Snap" was modified in order to compliment classes that already have advantage against surprised creatures.
* The racial trait "Striated Musculature" of the coleop sub-race was partially modified to specify that a coleop larger than Large still benefits from this trait.
* The racial trait "Underground Gatherer" of the coleop sub-race was renamed, and now it's called "Undersoil Gatherer".
* The racial trait "Oniric Wind" of the lepid sub-race was rewritten. The sleep spell used with this trait now escalates whith the player character level.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
