This is Part Three of the Vampire Hunt Trilogy. The players are tasked with entering the everchanging slitherswamp and clearing out the inhabitants for Artor Morlin, a masked lord of Waterdeep. He wants the lair for himself.

The players start out by encountering a portal with snake heads that have gems for eyes. The different gem colors represent different sections of the swamp. The description of the portal sounded cool but the map was both horrible and useless. It was a wasted opportunity and it would not be the last. I needed to improvise on the gates and how the rooms connect. I would suggest working out ahead of time how these portal gates work and predetermine the order in which you want the players to enter the encounters. In essence, railroad them.

The first portal pops the players into a section with an anti-magic field. It is called “A Hole in the Weave”. I used it as an excuse for why they could not simply gate back home. The players have to cross a chasm to get to the...See more

for PCs receiving a Flaw during Bonus Objective B, Scene A, when/how does that Flaw get removed? Not sure how that would keep coming up with each future adventuring party

I played this adventure last night with the Melbourne AL group. Our party was 3x5th level and 2x6th level, and I ran my 5th level paladin. Our party completed the storyline and the bonus objectives. We finished the last fight in the dying moments of our allocated game time. The first fight came down to the last two remaining characters who survived long enough to pull us through. The paladin spent that battle unsuccessfully trying to keep the cleric alive. We went into the last battle with very low health and overall my character was knocked out three times and rolled about four death saves. As a result this was a memorable module and there was a sense of achievement.

I prepared and ran this for a local convention so I can not post an official review. A solid 4 star, could be 5 if full text were available! The biggest issues are with the Season 8 format.

I would love to see the full text version of this adventure, I believe there is quite a lot of background left out, or it is assumed you have played or run the previous adventure.

There were things I didn't notice during prep that popped up during play which I should have been prepared for. I didn't create a map of how the gates connect, I ran them from a central hub, and PCs were able to go back and forth as they pleased. I actually saw a comment about pre-rolling the order of the gates, but glossed over it as it seemed incongruous.

Overall, I had a lot of fun running this in spite of my screw-ups. The party was a hoot, and they got some of the most interesting results from the mural and font rooms. I probably completely botched the logic puzzle as it seemed like they cracked...See more

I saw some people questioned how Rhacoph gets into his coffin. There is a very tiny, dry channel at the base of the statue on the island to the underwater statue/coffin. :)

Were the bone nagas in the bonus objective B guardian or spirit nagas in life? Or is it DM choice?

Hello Nick! The new format and guidelines for season 8 adventures were implemented to stress DM choice and creativity. The bone nagas in Bonus Objective B are an example of this. Just go ahead and choose whatever version of the bone nagas will work best for your storyline and to use against the players. Personally, I tend to run it with one of each just to have variety but feel free to do whatever you’d like.

I hope this helps you out. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hey folks! Something happened and Ouida was lost in the layout process. Wizards is currently working on fixing it but I don’t know when that would be. In the meantime, know that Ouida is a human priestess of Shar. You should be able to just use the NPC priest stats for her.

Additionally, the spawn with Rhacolph are also bullywugs. :)

So Detta is level 9, Ingemar and Vydis are level 12, Sycunda the younger brother is level 20 (!!!), and we should use the level 5 priest stats for Ouida? The Drow Priestess of Lloth is level 13 and makes more sense if you remove the racial attributes. If your tier 2 group is especially beefy and coordinated, a level 18 War Priest would be a strong add to the party.

The main idea with this party was, at various times, they were dominated by the Scourges and initially were not nessesarily all traveling together. As such, they are all of differing levels and abilities. Mechanically, the lower level characters should (at least a little bit) makeup for the higher level characters in balancing the fight.

Additionally, this is meant as a roleplaying enounter - but adventures sometimes are spoiling for a fight or do the unexpected! Should the adventures choose to fight the NPCs, if run correctly, you shouldn’t need Ouida to be higher level. Sycunda is brutal in that he can create globes of darkness with his attacks and use them either to teleport or to do additional damage to a target - on each of his turns. He also has the ability to cast darkness himself, allowing him additional battlefield tactical abilities. And while you are viewing them as XX level, he is CR11 (Yes, I know the CR system has its flaws. The CR system in every edition has had that problem! :-)...See more

So, seven months later and Wizards still hasn't fixed anything. I think it's safe to assume they never will. Seriously, who writes and edits these things and why are they so bad at it?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
