This is Part Two of the Vampire Hunt Trilogy. The background story allows PCs to be ported in easily without playing Part One. The dungeon itself is pretty basic in construction. There are five rooms and no secret doors or hidden rooms. There is one trapped room. It is filled with references to Dwarven gods but they have no significance to the module or any of the encounters. They serve as useless filler. Most of the monsters in the rooms possess special abilities to frustrate players. Almost all have some sort of condition/spell immunity or resistance to damage. The vampire spawn can regenerate and the Stone Guardians can shield others. The shield other ability is particularly brutal when used with high AC of Stone Golem. The damage resistances of the monsters can make for a grind if the players lack magical weapons. This is no certainty at Tier 2. The one thing the monsters did not have was a large area effect or blam-o spell.

Although the rooms were close together, there is no percentile chance...See more

I picked this to run last minute because only two of the players at my full AL table had been joining me in the journey through Mad Mage. The module lists no playtesters, and it shows. The bonus objectives each show an estimated time of 60 minutes, but are both relatively simple combat encounters that occur in singular, identical rooms. The main episodes occur in a linear fashion, the entirety of the module taking place in a crypt of five large rooms. The bonus-objective rooms are through unlocked east and west doors off of both of the first two rooms, so the one room that's hard to enter seems like the way the party wants to go.

The primary item link to the previous module is not really a link - the "silver earring depicting a holy symbol to Savras" in 08-07 is now "a silver earring from which dangles a crystal ball. Within the ball many different shaped eyes float (holy symbol of the demigod Savras..." and it gets used in an overly complicated riddle that is one of the "links"...See more

DMs Guild is not allowing me to review it despite the fact that I purchased it from here and it is in my library. I ran this right after the last one and I think the change in difficulty through my players off. They had fun... but for the one player, I feel like this was the first time his character felt like he was really in danger. I am running the last part tonight and the players seem excited.

I give it 4 stars.

The glyphs are marked with a "G" on the map on p. 14. There are a few more than I would consider "several", but you can always adjust to suit your party.

It would have been nice if there was SOME tie in to the undertakers, but I disagree with Mark M's statement. This took every bit of 4 hours for us. Admittedly there are several commonly used class abilities that can trivialize the dangers in this adventure.

I used this to play the musical notes for my players in song, in case others interested. I placed a small pause after the 3rd, 5th and 6th note and kept playing it until I got to a nice sounding melody.

Disclaimer: this module was purchased for me by my FLGS, so while it wasn't purchased with my account, I did run this module for 6 players on Thursday 12/20/18. This is my review.

It's really difficult to put in to words how bad this module is. This is, quite literally, a 100 x 100 ft crypt, subdivided into 5 rooms (along with an entry hallway). There are 2 minor puzzles, 2 minor traps, and a 3 minor combat encounters. There are no social encounters. That's the module, as written.

Almost none of it is tied together with the prior module - no Undertakers, no additional exposition on the earring, no suggestion of using the blue ale in the initial puzzle. A trilogy of modules, all written by different people, and it really shows. Badly.

The combats read as though they were written for APL 5, not 8. One of the combats is 10 skeletons, with the option of the party getting additional help. Another combat is 5 mummies and a couple carrion crawlers - a single character can trivialize...See more

I"m agreeing with MarkM, in addition I've a minor complaint about lack of printer friendly version and the release version has unrelated art work from the previous DDAL8-07 IntoTheDarkness module eitherway it appears to be something that was slapped together with adventure, so I don't know why I'm paying $5.

*Also who play tested this for four hours?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
