Hello, just bought this mod. I immidiately noticed that some of the characters do have typos e.g. Gareal instead of Garaele, Gundren Rockseeke instead of Gundren Rockseeker etc. If that was a case, they characters didn`t have portraits nor could I give them one. Any solution? Sry for my own typos if any^^.

After searching the document, I'm unable to find any of the typos you mentioned. Do you have page numbers where I can find those?

Hi Adam, here is one example:
Reference Manual, Spoilers Ahead!, link 1.1 Daran Edermat - shouldn't it be Edermath?
If you follow the NPC there, you will find other examples like sister Gaeral instead of Gaerale etc.
Also I noticed that the portrait of the same character is different with a new level, while others have none. I may be wrong, but it looks like some of the missing portraits were accidently replacing portaits at different levels. (Makes no sense when portraits show different races while advancing in levels.)

Hmm, sounds like the PDF might be displaying incorrectly for you. There are, and never were, character portraits in this product. I can't find the issues you're having.

I've also searched for the typos you mentioned, and I can't find them. It might be that the display you have is cutting off the end of some words.

Ah, I see the problem now. I was speaking about the MOD for Fantasy Grounds not the PDF. Looks like I put my comments under the wrong version of the product, sry for that - otherwise the situation stands as it is. All the problems are within .mod for FGU.

Oh! I'll let the folks who did the FG conversion know.

This has been really helpful asset to my LMotP campaign. I wish WOtC had included something like this in the original set. Gundren and Sildar have stat blocks included in the original set but that leaves out some information about saving throws, and how to level them up.

For reference, there's no information missing about saving throws in the original statblocks; saving throw modifiers are only separately listed in statblocks if the NPC/monster is proficient in them (and thereby has a different modifier for a saving throw than for the corresponding ability score). But yeah, there's no info about leveling them up or anything in the original.

Why are there two PDFs, one called Fellowship of Phandalin, and another called Triboar Trail Heroes? Their contents appear to be almost identical.

Sorry for the confusion, Mike! Triboar Trail Heroes was the working title.

The PDF name has been updated. If you download anything that says 'v2' in the title name, you have the most recently updated file. In any case, the difference between v1 and v2 is only layout/color changes.

It has Droop but not Klarg?
Customer avatar

Thanks for your question! I thought about Klarg, but he seems evil through and through. On the other hand, Droop seems pretty happy to help the PCs, and the Redbrands we know can be redeemed because one of the Starter Set characters is a reformed Redbrand.

I respect your opinion. However: one of my Players was using the Human Noble pregen included in the adventure and rolled a Natural 20 on... some Knowledge roll involving Klarg; I don't remember what the specific roll was. But he was a new player at the time and I wanted to illustrate that while a successful Int roll typically means "I know something about Bugbears" and a VERY successful roll means "I know EVERYTHING about Bugbears," a Natural 20 means "I knew THIS Bugbear in college." So I literally told him "you knew this Bugbear in college. His name is Klarg."

And he said "so... what does that mean?" And I said something along the lines of "that's up to you. It could mean you literally met him when you were in actual college or it could just mean you know him from way back." So we decided that when Salazar (the PC's name) was a young man, he was kidnapped and ransomed by Klarg. He was held for several weeks while his family decided whether...See more

That's awesome, Andrew. I love when unlikely things happen in games.

I've run Lost Mine of Phandelver three times and played it once. In none of those scenarios was Klarg anything other than a brute and died at the hands of the adventurers. But it's cool that, in D&D, almost anything can happen.

Maybe I'll add Klarg one day. That would be a fun exercise. But for now I think I'll let the roster stand as is. Klarg is a bit of a corner case.

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
