Is there a way to tell which world setting this takes place in? Is it a complete home brew, or is it based in Eberron / Forgotten Realms / etc?

For people who have run this game - approximately how many hours did it take you? Thanks!

Doing both Pixie & Griffon but having my players breeze through the forest (We even went back to a few areas from Victor's map cause they wanted to know what was there) it took about 3 and a half hours. Could definitely be faster or longer depending on the navigation of the forest. I know this response is almost a year late.

How to actually play out the pixie game?? Characters who do decide to jump after their buddy need to keep rolling? until they reach of what i only can assume a fall of more then 30 seconds as players won't realise whats happening at first, so a minimum of 30 seconds , 15000 ft. Thats a lot of rolls for characters to make......This will take time , meanwhile the polymorphed characters keep falling? I mean what is the best approach here? I will need time to explain to players as well whats happening.......

Hello Rob. Let me try to help. **SPOILER ALERT**

The pixie game is basically a game of tag in the sky. When some of the characters fall off Ragvala after they get polymorphed, you roll for initiative.

During initiative, characters who jump off the dragon to save their polymorphed friends must roll athletics or acrobatics to catch up to their them. It is up to you to decide how far the polymorphed characters are from the dragon at the start of the game. There's a suggestion in the module that the distance is 500 feet for every 6 seconds the characters that are NOT polymorphed hesitate to jump.

During the polymorphed characters turn, they must also roll for athletics or acrobatics to slow down/match the other characters' speed so they can get tagged and have the pixies cancel the polymorph spell.

This game is only supposed to last for 30 seconds or an equivalent of 5 rounds. After 5 rounds, if all the polymorphed characters have not been tagged yet by other characters,...See more

Thanks Paul, I have played it and had the people that jumped after them trying to roll and count until they cashed up , i gave them a minute which was way to long.....but nevertheless it was a lot of fun to do , also one character didnt jump so the pixies befriended all except for that one! Such a fun module to play and DM! I think it will take 2 sessions or maybe 3 to do this module with our playgroup.

I've ran this module twice now, and both times I've cried at the end. A wonderfully written module that offers challenging combat, plenty of opportunity to roleplay, and a finale that tugs at your heartstrings. I give it a 30 out of 5 stars.

Absolutely love this adventure. I've ran it several times and my players always have a blast. Twice I've had players run off at the first combat to get guards to help them and then they have this poor hapless peasant with a sword joining them on a grand quest.

I have gotten all 3 of these adventurers. I have not gotten to run them as of yet. My party has not made it to the Quivering Forest just yet. These look Freaking amazing....I can not wait to run these when we get there. The story line is SOLID, and well told. This looks to be a great time for as a DM, and my party when I finally get to tell the story of the gem of a trilogy. MAKE MORE STUFF!!! Still waitiong for the seconc half of the Thar series :)

Played this module a few months back at a point where I was starting to get bored with AL. This adventure brought it all back though. The sense of wonder and excitement all came back.
I was told there would be a follow up adventure to it. Wondering if you have an estimated release date and what tier it will be set to. Holding back my rogue/bard at lv4 so I don't miss it.

Hi Tom! Thank you for this heart warming feedback! I am glad you stayed playing AL. There are lots of good adventures and CCCs out there! CCC-GSP01-02 Brotherhood already premiered last May. Currently it is in the final stages of upload approval from the AL admins. If there's nothing more to edit, you should see it here in DMsGuild hopefully by next week!

-Major Spoilers Ahead-

I just played through this adventure as a player, and while I loved the story of it, this entire adventure is WAY too strong for a T1 party. I played through it as a level 1 character, but due to the number of players we had and some of the other characters' levels, we were considered a Strong party.
As others have mentioned, the encounter with the redcaps is extremely dangerous, but so is the encounter with the Guard Drakes. Even just one of them had more health than half our party combined, and there were 5 total. Furthermore, the hexcrawl takes FOREVER. Most areas contain an extremely dangerous fight, take upwards of 45 minutes, and there's no telling how many hexes the party will go through while looking for the item. Our DM ended up having to fiat us through most of the encounters and basically teleport us to find the final area, and we still nearly ran over 4 hours. Our party didn't encounter the pixies to save time, and scared off the Griffon because, due to our...See more

Hi Mark. It is unfortunate to hear that the adventure was not enjoyable for you and your party when you played it. I really appreciate the feedback that you have given and I'll see how I can incorporate some of what you said to my future adventures. Thank you for taking the time and being detailed enough to actually tell me what transpired.

As for addressing some of your concerns (Spoilers ahead):
- It is intentional that the monsters in the Quivering Forests are lethal. Except for the redcaps, other combat encounters actually have alternative solutions in case players meet some of the requirements. For example if there is a character that can speak draconic, an intimidation check can be made to scare off the drakes and avoid combat altogether.
- Out of the 11 hex map, only 3 of them have combat encounters (excluding the weakened oni), the rest are more for exploration and social interaction. The DM also have the right to rearrange these hexes to make sure the players get a balance of all types of encounters.
- There are places in the hex map where you can rest. You can also long rest in between chapters since Ragvala did not really give a specific time as to when you need to get the item back.
- The final fight with Ragvala and the roc is actually optional. Especially if the players are pressed for time, this encounter is...See more

Thanks for the reply! It's great to see designers still keeping tabs on their old modules.
I will say that a lot of that is stuff that us players don't get to see, especially in situations where we are being rushed through the module due to time constraints. In my playthrough, we ended up *only* seeing the combat encounters, so I would never have known that the encounters that we went through were the only ones in the map. I will also note that the version that we played through was acquired before the updated version was released, so we encountered 4 redcaps instead of the 2 you changed it to.

I do believe that my note regarding the length of the adventure still stands; in a game that's supposed to last 4 hours, there just isn't enough time to guess your way through a hexcrawl. While the DM can shuffle the hexes around (which ours did because we were going the absolute wrong direction), I will say that it is a little daunting as a player to see a hexcrawl when you only have 2.5 hours left,...See more

Fun module! I was wondering why the save DCs for players were so high for movement during the climatic battle. DC 20 saves for Tier One parties are beyond deadly! :) The Greasy Snitches? Are these retired player characters that are NPCs in adventures now? They have the feel of them. Will you present more tales of the other Five Leaf Clover's? I think that they are well put together! I also heard about your recent streaming venture and wish you good fortune there!

First of all, thank you for running my adventure! It fills my heart with joy whenever I see players and DMs enjoy A Dragon's Breath. Now let's go through your questions!

DC 20 - (Spoilers) This is meant to add a bit of realism to the encounter. Participating in an ancient dragon vs roc battle 20,000ft in the air is not a tier 1 battle! We call the tier 3 or tier 4 adventurers for these crazy things! However, this module gives our t1 heroes an opportunity to experience that, at a great risk. Are they willing to help their dragon friend even though there's a high chance that they will die as well? Are they sure? This is also a great way to show that solving encounters (like in part 3), can gain them benefits in the story later on, like not having to worry about falling off the dragon's back because they have a cool griffon mount or a pixie casting fly on them.

Greasy Snitches - Yes! I am part of a group called the Greasy Snitches that runs conventions and other ttprg events. But before...See more

From the perspective of a player and a new GM, I'm not crazy about the answer to this question. Even including the option to assist the dragon in its fight for Tier 1 adventurers at the peril of a check that is literally guaranteed to kill the average tier 1 player at least 70% of the time (being generous in assuming a +3 mod in a stat and proficiency, not including expertise) in order to railroad a narrative battle where the GM is advised to describe the fight that they maybe could have participated in... you may as well write a book, because the players are either very likely to die, or they're not participating in the story, which is the point of having players.

Also, the Griffon encounter seems more like a stump-the-chump than a puzzle. When a creature makes a nose-dive at players, they're gonna defend themselves. That's a basic instinct. Rolling an Insight check to see that the creature is hungry is just going to make them want to defend themselves even more. I'm sorry, but those parts of the...See more

No no no, don't say sorry. Thank you for taking your time to provide feedback! This is great! These are things that I can keep in mind when writing future modules. Your points are actually valid and I guess not everyone enjoyed the last part of the adventure based on the mechanics I placed. Also, regarding the griffon part, you are right about it having basic instinct which would probably add more realism to the adventure.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
