Question.... This scenario is based on a ball in a villa.... In Sharn?

Forgive me for wondering... But Sharn, the City of Towers..... And there is a villa?

Surely this should be a portion of a tower with a large garden built on an overhanging platform......

The Upper Menthis Plateau has Morgrave Uni & the Uni District amongst other towers.....

And the Middle Menthis Plateau ...A collection of seemingly inside out towers according to the 3e book Sharn City of Towers.....

Am I missing something or is this in need of a small fix (not a villa but a decent slice of tower with its own garden)?

Can this be played as a standalone adventure?

I liked it. It gives a lot of options, which leads to many ways it could be played. Its interesting, RP heavy, and i think i dont know modules which could be used to inspire out of combat team work (my party splited in 3 groups and it worked perfectly).
Yet. Its improvisation heavy for DMs, and it would be hard to find their place in this module for combat characters.

If you can provide jpegs of the maps (no key) or maps with no key in the PDF, it would make converting and running this on a VTT much easier.

Is the TCP cost correct on the magic item?

Tier 1, 4 TCP seems reasonable for a once per day item even if it doesn't therefore fit on any DMG Table.

My mistake. This item is on Table F in the DMG. The TCP cost shown in this adventure has to be a misprint. The TCP cost SHOULD be 16.

"Pistoleer" statblock has only claw & biting attacks?
I haven't read the adventure, but a text search doesn't show where PCs encounter this creature.

I saw the same thing, I scanned all the bold monsters in the text. The only one that fits is "Clawfoot Raptor". Although I was exited when I thought their would be a pistoleer. Oh, Well. Next time I guess.

Just looking at the preview, one question arises: no treasure checkpoints for the bonus objectives? What's the reason for that, I wonder?

p.14, "The characters receive 1 advancement checkpoint and 1 treasure checkpoint for each bonus objective that they complete..."

Purchased the file now. Page 2: "This adventure includes two bonus objectives that the characters can pursue if they have additional time to do so—earning additional advancement checkpoints (but no treasure checkpoints) in the process."

Seems like a really odd thing to get mixed up just 12 pages apart.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
