"Absolutely brilliant in both conception and production, this is a must-have tool to enrich your worlds with small details that really bring life to mundane situations." ~ Jason B, ★★★★★

"While I might have done a decent job coming up with a festival on my own, this guide has so much that I would never have come up with, and is all around much faster." ~ Jonathan B, ★

"It is often too easy to reduce these worlds down to being defined by strife and hardship; May has done a respectable job of shining some light on the happier side of things." ~ Christopher W, ★★★★★

I was going through the magic items and noticed "Portable Circus Tent" and "Tent of the Dark Circus" had close to the exact same description.

Ran a Fall/Harvest festival session using many of the ideas (and game/contest rules) in here. Very well thought out, helped me give my players an immersive "ren faire" type experience in game. The format is great too, easy to find needed content during the session. Pig calling, Hair Braiding, drinking contests - and the 10 year old paladin character won the strongman competition! Thank you for a great time, much needed after what the players have previously gone though (and what the real world is currently going through)

I'm so glad you all enjoyed it! I get giddy every time I hear about battle-hardened adventurers getting their faces painted and having good-old-fashioned arm-wrestling contests against one another. I'm overjoyed that it could bring some relaxation and fun to a party, and a table, who've been facing a lot of stress.

I just used a bunch of ideas from this for a mid-summer festival in the town that my groups D&D campaign is centered around. I loved the “Bucking Gorgon” idea but took it a step further. I had already established some nearby gnomes who made wacky inventions involving wild magic which weren’t always thought through. So when a pig escaped from the greased pig catching competition, and knocked over the magical oil into the wine with magical properties, and then that whole mixture spilled onto the “Bucking Gorgon” ride, the machine came to life and started rampaging through the fair. I made a homebrew monster to go with this... the Mechanical Gorgon (a lower-threat clockwork Gorgon) and added it to D&D Beyond - https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/720746-mechanical-gorgon

I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

Also I'm adding "greased pig catching mechanics" to a list of things for a future update.

Hey Ashley!
I've been working on a DMs Guild adventure that's set in a carnival, and this has been a hugely useful document from an inspiration perspective. I've also used an adapted version of the bucking gorgon game mechanics. I'd like to properly credit you and drive traffic your way, and of course if you're not happy that I'm publishing closely inspired content of course I'd change it.
Let me know how best to contact you to discuss further if you'd like :)
Best,
Nicole

Can i have a version without the background texture? It's not printing well, and i can't get the layer to disable on my end. Thanks!

Wow, that's a really good question! I don't know if I can include multiple PDF options with a product, but if I can, I'll include a printer-friendlier version. If not, I may simply be able to e-mail you a copy. I'll look into it and get back to you!

Okay neat. I hope drivethru has that sort of setup. I have printer-friendly versions of Limitless Adventures' products, but i'm not sure where i got them. I'm using some stationary from Southworth, and it's nifty and inviting. upc 83514870857, if you're interested.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
