Children of the Fey

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Children of the Fey is a supplement for both Players and Dungeon Masters of 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons.

For players there are three new races, with three subraces each, as well as a full description of their societies, physical features, general personality traits, naming conventions, and a guide to building an adventurer for each, including what classes and roles they would be best at, and why they might be an adventurer in the first place.  You have the following Races and Subraces:

  • Half Fey

    • Adlet

    • Kitsune

    • Mimi

  • Lár Fey

    • Alseid

    • Ghillie Dhu

    • Tikoloshe

  • Arboreal Fey

    • Dryad

    • Kodama

    • Tani

For Dungeon Masters, you will find a suite of stat blocks for each and every of these subraces, with the exception of the Dryad, since there is already a generic Dryad stat block in the Monster Manual.  There is a generic stat block for each, and then two unique and special ones that are meant to stand out in your campaign, such as:

  • The Nine Tails, a half Aarakocra half Fey Kitsune monk at Cr.15,

  • The Sproutling Tender, a Cr.6 underdark born Alseid that cohabitates with Myconids,

  • Or the Chocolate God, a Cr.10 Tani that styles themselves a god and cult leader, and uses their fanatics to fight for them.

Additionally there is a backstory for each of these unique stat blocks, as well as a small guide as to how they would fight in combat and what their goals may be.

All of these races and corresponding stat blocks have been designed to be usable within the Forgotten Realms, but also within any other published, or homebrew setting.

The goal in creating this book, was to bring Fey from other parts of our world into the world of Dungeons and Dragons.  While the Dryad, Alseid, and Ghillie Dhu have roots in European legend, the rest do not. They come from tales ranging from South East Asia and Oceana, to Africa, to the Inuit tribes of Greenland

In addition to all of this, there are 9 beautiful pieces of art, one for each of the subraces, all done by the fabulous Adela Quiles who also did the cover art and layout.

My games aren't so Fey focused, so while this supplement is less useful for me, it's well put together. The races are all interesting, well balanced across the board and well written. The additional fey stat blocks in the beastiary cover a large swath [...]

I was first exposed to this guide when one of the members of my dnd group chose to be a Ghillie Dhu fey and I really enjoyed the character. Since then this little guide has become an invaluable addition to character creation among our group of roughly [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
