Time Tracker

ADD TO WISHLIST >

It is highly recommended that this is printed on 11"x17" paper and laminated

Time Tracker is designed to be a visible reference to both players and the DM. It can assist in keeping track of events, add some urgency to game play, and visualize time as a resource with consequences. Laminating the time tracker is recommended so that notes can be added with a dry erase marker.

Update (12/5/2018): Added a variation for Faerun/Forgotten Realms with 10 days per week and 3 weeks per month.

Each day is divided into 6 stages: Early Morning, Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night, and Late Night -- these stages make up the outermost ring. Each of these stages contains four 1 hour segments.

Each hour is made up of six segments (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60) of "spent time" -- this is the inner ring. Each of these segments loosely represents the time it takes to preform an out of combat action (e.g. search a room, pick a lock, copy information, break down a door, climb a tree, start a fire with a tender box). What constitutes spent time is up for interpretation by the DM, but is generally between 3-10 minutes of activity.

Event segments are the six sections marked with a die face that surrounds the spent time track. These can be used to mark the occurrence of an event(s) happening during the current hour using a d6. When the spent time track reaches a segment with a corresponding event(s), move one of the event d6 on to the spent time track when players spend time (instead of adding a new d6) -- this triggers the event. If there is more than one event on an event segment all are triggered, but only one d6 is moved -- the rest are discarded.

When the Spent Time Track is full, roll the 6d6. If any 1s are rolled, bad stuff happens.

There is also a combat round/seconds track; a minute track that can help turn up the pressure on dwadling players; a days, weeks, months, and seasons track; and an initiative track.

If you really, really want to enhance the narrative of your game, I highly recommend keeping something like this or similar. As for this one, it has a really great design for any manner of use: from dry-erase to putting "hands" on it.

Yeah.. I took your advice and just added the calendar. Turned out pretty good too. :D
I scaled it down to 1/4 so nobody would try to rip it. I hope it draws some good marketing for you, this thing is awesome. :D

Definitely, now I just need to dig up some gothic clock-hands, then I'll make some PNGs to overlay your Time Tracker to set the hours on demand. :D I assume I can grab some markers from your other asset pack to use on this map. :)

I am really excited to start using this and understand some of it. But is there another resources to clarify how all the dice work? I don't really get the events, and other things aren't very clear to me. I can tell the tracker is very functional, I'm just uncertain how to follow its instructions. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry you're having trouble. To clarify, the dice (d6) mark the minute within the hour -- in 10min increments. So if there is an event happening at 5:40pm I would place a d6 with the 4 facing up on the 5pm hour as a reminder. When the in-game hour reaches 5:00pm I will see that d6 with the 4 facing up and know there are only 40mins left until the event. I can then move that die to the event track (the one with the images of dice faces) to show that the event is happening this hour and how many mins away it is. As player do things within the 5:00pm hour, you will add dice to the 10minute track to show time passing. When 40mins have passed, then your event is triggered.

This is not valid for Faerun as its a 10 day week with 12 months, each moth is 30 days so 3 weeks total

There are 2 pdf files include with this. One is the standard 12 months a year, 4 weeks a month, and 7 days a week (as seen in the preview above). The other pdf included is for Faerun with 12 months a year, 3 weeks a month, and 10 days a week.

This is a great and beautifully put together idea. Wish I could use it completely but in Faerun the weeks are 10 days and only 3 weeks per month. So have had to crop the bottom off and just use the time tracking.

Amazing, and very helpful! Beautifully put together. An absolute must have, I don't know why I didn't think of this before. I will be implementing this very soon in my games. The colors are outstanding, there is a real synergy between the circles and outside border, complimented by the way everything is mirrored. You know how to use space effectively and efficiently. Also, on the second page is a guide on how to use this, which is amazing. Lastly, the built-in initiative tracker and the effect list at the bottom is genius. Bravo, this is great work.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
