Myriad, City of Tiers

Myriad, a city originally devoted to magical research, has been hidden and isolated for nearly a thousand years. Now, it has rejoined the world and an unseen struggle is taking place within its walls. A party of adventurers has been invited to enter the city and assist in its reintegration.
Myriad's secrets, however, run deep and dangerous.

Just purchased this. When I try to open the map files, I get an error message: This is not a valid bitmap file or its format is not currently supported. Anyone else having this difficulty? Or is there an alternative format I could get?

I haven't heard of anyone else having difficulty with them. Please contact me via Twitter (@TuckerAuthor) if possible and I'll see what we can do to resolve the problem.

Once I came home from work and accessed the files from my home laptop, I was able to open the files. A ghost in the system, I presume. Thank you for your quick reply.

I don't see encounter scaling guides. If they are in the material, what page? If not, what is the ideal party level for running this without having to alter encounters?

The combat encounters have some scaling suggestions where necessary. It's optimized for a party of 10th level characters, but magic items etc. always require the DM to make their own judgements as to the strength of their party vs. the monsters presented.

I haven't tried adjusting difficulty based on equipment, do you use a +/Spell level guideline or is it all gut feeling?

It's mostly gut feeling, but you might try adding a party level for every two or three items of very rare quality or above as a guideline. Hope that helps!

I'm very intrigued, and think this might be a great drop-in for the end game area of my current homebrew campaign, but I'm not quite sure. It appears the PDF preview links are not working, any chance we could get that fixed so we can evaluate it a little bit better? Thanks!

Thanks for bringing this up! I'll send a note to the tech support team and see if they can fix this. I know they have had issues with the previews lately. I'll post back here if I can get a resolution.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
