ADD TO WISHLIST >

Plunge your characters into an underworld of corruption, theft, death, and money, complete with its own rules, lingo, and protocols. Learn what secrets link the corrupt city of Skullport with the shining jewel of Waterdeep, and use them to make as many dragons as you can. Can your characters come out on top as they pit their wits against the Waterdeep city guard, the pitiful defenses of their targets, and even their own greed?

A shadowy figure that calls themselves “Mr. Porter” always has a job for characters ready for some quick and dirty work. Your characters clearly have the skills needed for some skullduggery; or, at least Mr. Porter believes they’re desperate enough to try. Once you’re in, there’s no going back, but the reward is worth it…isn’t it?

"Mr. Porter's Tome of Skullduggery" is a 40-page supplement that lays out what all this skullduggery business is and how you can use it to add a bit of variety and a little extra money to your exploration of the City of Splendors. It includes a brief history of skulduggery in Waterdeep, an explanation of how to run an adventure like a heist, and a series of 10 heists that are quick to set up and quick to run. Spanning levels 1 through 7, this product is perfect for the adventuring group who wants to see and do more in Waterdeep before they take the plunge into Undermountain.

Included in "Mr. Porter's Tome of Skullduggery" are all nine heists previously released on th Dungeon Masters Guild, as well as a bonus tenth heist only available in this product! Assembled here for easy consuption, this bundle collects ten heists for half the price - a deal worthy of any Waterdhavian merchant!

This product was written to supplement the Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and Dungeon of the Mad Mage storylines.

Bought all of these before I looked at them. PDF's do not include text, or actual maps, but are pictures of the text -- so no copying or pasting into your favorite editor for manipulation. Also, the maps and many of the images are just black boxes, so useless, even for building your own roll20 battlemaps.

Hi Benjamin,
I am looking forward to running some of these adventures however I am having an issue with the PDF - all of the maps show up as black squares, sometimes with very faint grey lines. Unfortunately even the maps with lines are not clear enough to be legible. It is very odd and it shows up like this when I open the PDF in Google Chrome and when I open the PDF in Preview.
Have you seen this before? Can you send me the map assets separately?
Thank you

Hello. Does this come with maps that can be used on a virtual table top eg Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds? Thanks

im finding artifcating and font irregularities all over like Culley below. Im copying this into my master OneNote notebook for ease of use at the table and its being a significant amount of work.

Additionally the second and third capers: Who watches the wizards, and wizardnapping. In the first of the two, the heroes are to steal the scrying bowl, in the second you describe that the scrying bowl is still there, and some of the language surrounding the phasephrase "I am an idiot" and the previous ones "Up" and "Down" are a little confusing leading it to read like it was a copy paste from the previous caper and didnt get fully edited.

Really enjoying both volumes of Mr. Porter's Tome thus far, though id really be interested in either a .doc version or at least one without the artifacting.

Scott,

Thanks for the feedback - it really helps me craft the best experience possible!

Could you describe the artifacting you see? Is it consistent in terms of location and style if you open and close it, or if you zoom in? The conversion from Word to PDF definitely messes with intended depiction of the fonts, but at this juncture I'm not sure how to resolve this issue.

As for using PDFs in general, I understand that to be a standard here, so there are no plans to switch to Word at the current time.

Thanks for the spot on the scrying bowl in Wizardnapping! That will get changed imminently.

It mainly appears when i copy it out of the PDF and paste it into WORD. Some of the text wont be read and, as such will be missing from the paste.

The PDF itself looks fine, its just for my application its being a bit of a fuss

Hi,
This is superb, but in the conversion from individual heists to a compendium the front pages (with the recommended levels) got lost.

Its not a huge issue - I was able to go back and look at the previews pdfs of all the previous adventures to work out what level they should be for (this worked for the first 9).

However it would be nice to have a little summary of the heists along with their recommended levels somewhere near the beginning.

The files have been updated! They should be now more printer-friendly, and briefly describe each heist in the table of contents.

This is brilliant. Its easier to use, and it will save me loads of ink.
Thank you.

(Although I preferred the original cover with the purple writing)

I see strange artifacts and changes in the fonts. If I edit the file it seems some areas are Adobe San font and others are images of Times Roman rather than editable text.

Additionally a printable version without the background would be nice.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
