The Way of the Sohei includes the Archetype and a new weapon the Naginata. The Sohei is a Monk mixed with a bit of a barbarian and some cleric spellcasting. This is part of my Freebie Friday, a weekly challenge I am doing for myself to produce atleast one piece of content every week.

Hey! This a really cool concept. I love the idea of a beefier, spellcasting monk. Just a few observations, though:

It might be a typo, but you state that your Ki Frenzy ends if you "haven't been attacked a hostile creature". I'm guessing that should be "haven't attacked a hostile creature" otherwise this class is pretty much locked in to just casting.

Also, at 17th level, with the Monk's evasion ability Mettle, and Mind of Matter, this class now has a solid chance of being unaffected by every spell that doesn't require an attack roll and they take half damage from everything except the rarest type of damage in the game.

I'd downgrade Mind of Matter to only give the standard rage damage resistance to physical damage, or maybe another rage ability like Reckless Attacks but with the caveat that they can't cast a spell on their next turn.

I'd also change Mettle to give advantage on Wisdom and Constitution saving throws to resist spell effects...See more

Let me Go down the list.
Typo Check Opps.
Mind of Matter: I wanted it to be similar to Bear Totem Barbarian, but instead I have moved it to being Physical and poison. I feel those fit the feel of the design fairly well still.
Mettle I agree Mettle felt a little op op. I originally wanted to make it something you choose one or the other every long rest. I actually meant to tie it to your reaction that way it was limited to once per round and at part of your action economy, but forgot. I still like the idea of it being advantage instead.

Thanks for the Feedback! Feel free to leave anymore (not going to lie you don't know how nice it is to have someone leave feedback. And having two people say something back to back)

Just looked at the Preview, and I noticed there is no 6th level Feature, like the other Monastic Traditions.

I did not label it by mistake. You get spellcasting at 6th level. Opps.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
