Minotaur's Bane

Written by Josh Parry (JVC Parry) and Phil Beckwith (P.B. Publishing)

Minotaur’s Bane is a one-shot adventure designed to be played by itself or as the third and final adventure in The Minotaur Trilogy series by P.B. Publishing.
It is a Dungeons & Dragons 5e adventure designed to be completed in about 16-24 hours of play over multiple sessions.

Almost every combat encounter, unless noted, has been calculated to present a tough challenge (upper end of Hard) for four characters of 8th level – that is, APL (average party level) is 8 at the start of the adventure.

With the cursed banner now in the safety of the minotaur, Perseus' hands yet the Minotaur society in ruins, a new threat has arisen. Bidding his time for the perfect opportunity to use the banner as a means to open an abyssal rift into the Material Plane, Baphomet - Demon Lord and Prince off Beasts, prepares for his return to bring chaos and savagery back to the civilized world.

The characters must enter the rift, explore the Eternal Battlefield amongst the ethereal spiritual battles, discover the path through the Maze of the Minotaur, and delve deep into Baphomet's domain to banish the Demon Lord and stop his plans to claim dominion over the Material Plane.

The world needs its heroes, though it wont be easy. Are your players ready for the challenge?

This adventure is a continuation of the first in the Minotaur Trilogy; Minotaur’s Betrayal. However, this adventure is designed to be played without having played through parts 1 & 2. If this is the situation for you and your group, try using the suggestions given in the Adventure Synopsis to kick-off your quest to defeat the Demon Lord Baphomet.

To run this adventure, you will need:

  • The Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Players Handbook
  • The Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Monster Manual
  • The content supplied within this adventure

Minotaur’s Bane is designed to be a drop and play adventure that can fit into any setting and any campaign

DISCLAIMER! Minotaur’s Betrayal is a Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition tier 2 adventure starting at level 8 with milestone level ups through to level 11. This will be a very, very hard adventure for 7th level player groups of 3 to 5 players with mostly very deadly encounters, we DO NOT suggest it. However, ideally Minotaur’s Betrayal is tailored as a challenging difficulty adventure with plenty of excitement and danger for a 8th level party of 4 to 5 players.

Feaured Adventure:

Scourge of the Medusa Curse!

Special Acknowledgments: M.T. Black

Scourge of the Medusa Curse is a Dungeons & Dragons 5e adventure designed to be completed in about 4 hours of play.

Many generations ago, there was a family of stoneworkers; the Mason family. Their family business was failing in recent years, and, due to the Master Stoneworker’s love for the dwarven spirits, the quality of their stonework was diminishing.

To rescue her father, Jorlana Mason went out in search for some way to help him regain the skill and passion he once had. She found an answer through prayer, though it was not deity she had hoped for. The god, known as Sseth, spoke to her, offering her that of which she asked. However, in exchange for this great gift, Jorlana must, after giving birth to her future firstborn, submit herself to Sseth, receiving from him the curse of the medusa.

Now, generations later, the latest new mother of the Mason family has gone missing, leaving behind her newborn son.

Can your heroic adventurers seek out and rescue the new mother from the grooming grasps of the Mason Medusa before she can be cursed with the Scourge of the Medusa Curse?

Any chance we could get a more printer friendly copy of the adventure?

I am confused about the razorvine mazes. How tall are the ceilings? The adventure says the razorvine will attack flying creatures with its 30 ft. reach. What about land based creatures that are walking through the razorvine maze?

Also, the adventure says: "Although the minotaur is a large creature, it runs through the maze with ease, with the razorvine tearing through its skin but the beast seems not to notice." Does this mean that the minotaur can move through the walls of the razorvine maze or only along the path? Would the squeezing rule still apply if the minotaur is in a 5' space in the maze?

Am at a loss on how to handle Pale Night in this. She's to powerful to defeat straight forward. So I suppose that means the party should bargain with her, but there is no information provided about her motivations in this game.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
