Pudding Faire

Super fun! My players loved it. I would say it takes a minimum of 2 sessions of 3 hours per session because the players want to introduce themselves and look at everything at first. Then they get right to the point when they know what's going on.

There are some things I would change. For example I think there are too many skill rolls in some of the games. The archery contest has more than 10 rolls! I limited those matches to one or two rolls.

Another thing I changed is the ban on bandits being able to switch to the good side. My players offered help and were good with words, so there was no point in saying no to them.

What gave me the most trouble is the choice of one of my players to attack Patches. I had to think hard to get him out of there.... It made me insecure. Maybe I'm confused but the adventure doesn't indicate what to do if a player attacks the gnome prematurely in the middle of the fair.

This is a really cool concept but is super role play heavy and a lot of prep work for the dm

if you don't push the plot forward on this one you'll pretty quickly make this into a 6 or 7 hour mod, you can't run all the content that it gives even just doing most of the events once takes up most of a 4 hour block

I'm starting my first ever Eberron campaign, and I'm thinking of running this as one of the adventures. I'll make it so the area is a Thelanis manifest zone, and Cyrrollalee and Urdlen will be archfey rather than gods. I'll place it in some bucolic little corner of Breland or maybe even the Eldeen Reaches. Should work a treat!

has anyone ported this to Fantasy Grounds? I bought it but I'd like to save myself some work if possible...

Like some other users have said, it took me and my party much longer than 4 hours to run this: 6 months of 2-3 hours of game-play every other week. Somewhere north of 33 hours. I used the spreadsheet Eric J posted below, and that was a huge help in keeping track of things too. It's fun and I recommend it, but only knowing that it could be a long long adventure depending on your players.

Finally finished this tonight. We started in mid June and played weekly for 2-3 hours. It was a ton of fun. The party needed a few more seconds for the banishment spell to finish so the party's paladin ripped his own thumb off in a desperate bid to distract Urdlen for just a touch longer. It was amazing.

Finally wrapping this up next week and will probably write a review once done, but I'll leave this here as a note in case I forget: The adventure should spell out Cyrolalee's reason for not allowing Urdlen to dine on the pudding. The players asked her several times and ways why she couldn't just invite him for a single dinner. I implied that an invitation into the heart of a god's domain (like this would be) has greater implications on divine power struggles and would permanently corrupt the town, which I think is close to what is meant in the adventure. It should be explicit though since I think reasonable parties will ask and it's best to have an answer ready.

I've been playing this for months now. Like 10ish 2-3 hour sessions. IDK how you could do it fast unless you're doing no fighting and not spending any time actually role playing the fun carnival encounters. Maybe we're just slow though. That said, we're having a great time and not at all trying to rush through it. Tonight my party ran across the skulks for the first time and the bard used minor illusion to conjure up a mirror so that they could spot the things. I thought that was a very clever solution.

My group ran this in under 3 hours but I limited them on opening day to 6 to 8 encounters. Dms will need to note the order of the encounters the players ran. I also gave Nanny and Patcher commoner stats if the group goes murder hobo.

Thanks for this awesome campaign! Lots of fun, but definitely took longer than 4 hours. One thing came up though; our wizard felt a bit left out on minigames, since none of them were INT or WIS based.

If his comes up with your group, you could add a game like cups and balls with WIS (Perception) check, or ring toss with an INT (Sleigh of hand), because they are calculating angles and whatnot. Or you could just make the Stone-skipping contest an INT (Sleigh of hand) check for the same reason.

This looks utterly brilliant. I want to run it and convert it to Fantasy Grounds. If I do so and then provide it for free would you like to add it to the DM's Guild?

I loved running this adventure for our group. A couple of notes:
- I agree with other comments that it would be difficult to run this in 4 hours. We took 5.5h (not including set-up / settling in time), so I would just keep that in mind.

Do players have to play as a gnome or halfling?

I ran this a couple of weeks ago. It was great fun. The players spent 2 hours exploring the faire & gathering clues, 1 hour solving the mystery & then went back to the faire for more fun!
