The Silver Flame of Eston

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Pyre, the flame of Eston, was once known as Cyre's greatest church dedicated to the Silver Flame. Standing like a fortress over a dark entrance into the underground realm of Khyber, the church protected some of the most vile artifacts ever to be recovered from the minions of the daelkyr. Unfortunately, like everything else in Cyre, the church was destroyed on the Day of Mourning, and while the divine wards of the church's vaults remain intact, they are left undefended from the machinations of the daelkyr. Now, the Church of the Silver Flame has called upon the Diggers' Union to assist them in the recovery of the dangerous artifacts contained within Pyre's vaults. Along the way, old friends and new ones will assist the adventurers as they fight their way past living spells and terrifying aberrations known as the grell. With harrowing, easy to run, aerial combats that take place in dark chasms and fire infested pits, this adventure should prove to be exciting for both DMs and players alike.<o:p></o:p>

Hi Brian, thanks for writing Eberron material!
I just bought the The Silver Flame of Easton and had a couple of questions. Is there a chance that I downloaded an older file? The reason that I am asking is because my file seems to have some 3.5 content (masterwork weapons, non-lethal damage, high DCs) and also the maps don't have any numbering on them.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Thank you for this feedback. The original version of this module was from 3.5 and I converted it to 5e. Well... mostly, apparently. I have updated a few of the skill checks that were too high, removed the references to masterwork weapons, and replaced the 1d6 nonlethal damage with 1d4 fire damage. If you have any difficulties downloading the new version, let me know. Thanks.

Thank you for including a sample. I noticed that this adventure appears to be a later installment in a series of adventures I can't locate elsewhere. Are these forthcoming from you? I'm asking partly because "Gambit at the Dreadhold" sounds pretty cool.

Hey Brandon,

The Mark of Heroes was a series of adventures released by Wizards of the Coast as part of the Role Playing Gaming Association back in 2004. It ended in 2006. The adventures mentioned in this module were from that series of adventures. This adventure is a continuation of that series. A kind of love letter, if you will.

If you haven't played the other adventures mentioned, don't worry. It won't affect your ability to run this module. It's more for nostalgia.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
