Multiple File Formats

Two amazing products at one low price!

Five years ago, you and your companions separated to search for lost clerical magic without any luck. Now you all have returned to Esmeltaran where you meet a strange nomadic couple, wielding a powerful staff. Rumors have spread that the staff has the capability to save the lands and restore clerical magic. All the while, Draconians begin to ravage the lands while they search for this Blue Crystal Staff. Can our heroes restore the lost clerical powers and save their land?

Dragonlances in Faerûn: DL1 Dragons of Despair is a complete overhaul of the original 1st edition module. This conversion turns the original module into 5th Edition and Forgotten Realms.

  • List of Unique and Magical Items with descriptions
  • Custom statistics for every monster and NPC made from the ground up
  • Breakdown of all Random Encounters
  • Detailed statistics for three Special Creatures
  • Custom overland map of Faerûn, numbered to match the encounters in the original module

Updated to v2.7 Remade some of the pregens so they link to the Players Options Book instead of the full module. Make sure to follow this discussion for more free update announcements.

Released v2.6 for all three products. Just minor typo fixes for the two FG modules. For the PDF, I updated it to be in sync with the FG module.

I just released version 2.5. Lots of minor tweaks and improvements. Biggest change were the maps. I remade two maps using CC3 and resized many of the other maps. BONUS: Another new class is now available... Noble

I'm proud to announce v2.0 has arrived. After working through a few more of these, it was time to rework DL1 all over. I adjusted all the monsters stats and abilities, added notes about the monsters (though you'll need the MM or Volo's to see images), specified between enemy and friend, added enemies to maps, replaced Gully Dwarves with Svirfneblin, added Deep Gnome sub race, fixed typos, fixed links, and sprinkled pixie dust on it. I also redid the Player's Handbook module so it can be used with any of these products. Finally, I rewrote the PDF Conversion Guide and fixed errors in there as well. There's probably more I did, but I'm exhausted. Enjoy!

Hi Jason. I just purchased this and great to see. I'm old enough to actually own the original. So I might have a problem with the copy/paste. I better start typing!

That's awesome to hear from a fellow fan. That means a lot! I have the original too. I used it heavily when making this product. It's nice to own one of them. Stay posted because in a week, I'll be updating this module to v2.0 with all new and improved toys to play with!

Well I have now created the full story. There were a few teething issues. E3-45. You had Map in the title, but I think you really need it in E3-46a. I added in the Epilogue to the story which I couldn't find. I used the images of the PCs as portraits, even though they weren't that great, but added a bit. I'm just going through again to make sure I've amended all the names etc. I will also extract some of the images and put them to the campaign where I can. But overall I'm pretty pleased with the result so far.

Thank you so much. I'm glad to know people can enjoy this. Thanks for pointing that out. I just put out v2.0, so hopefully that'll fix most of the errors you might find.

After play-testing the next module in the series, I found that having a Player's Module would come in handy. So now included is a second Fantasy Grounds module made for the Players to have quick access to the new races, class, background, pregenerated heroes, and items.

Selûne, goddess of the moon, looked upon this product and shook her head. Deciding there needed to be more custom-made maps, she added one new map in the Conversion Guide of a numbered overland of Faerûn. Added to the Fantasy Grounds module is the overland map of Faerûn and a map of Thornwood Swamp. Both of these maps have pins to their corresponding encounters.

When you say "copy/paste the copyrighted material into this module", this means that your documents are editable and have clear sections delineated for this?

That's a good question. So since I cannot put anything copyrighted into the Fantasy Grounds module, I instead put everything else. Aside the custom maps, monsters, heroes, random encounters, and more I included a complete outline of the story through story links. They are all numbered as the module has them numbered so it's easy to match. One does need to purchase the pdf version of the original module (which can be bought from this website), and then you can copy/paste the story right into the pre-made story links just for that event or encounter. Also, inside these pre-made story links already have links to encounters, npcs, parcels, and everything else from the original module. So it's all ready to go once the story is put in. Now I'll be completely honest. It took me about three casual days to paste in the story, but when I play-tested this module, it was all worth it. The PDF that comes with this is a complete reference sheet of the original module, updated to 5E and converted to Forgotten Realms, for people...See more

Awesome, thank you very much. I've only purchased a few things from this site, so I wasn't quite sure what it meant. I'll gather everything together now and let my kids know (I've passed the torch, they are absolutely hooked on DL now)! Do you plan on converting the rest of the adventure?
Customer avatar
Jason E August 10, 2018 7:10 pm UTC
First off, that is great to hear about your children. And yes, I plan to convert all 16 original modules. I'm almost done with DL2: Dragons of Flame, but I play-test each one of these for accuracy and errors first, so it'll be out sometime in October. For DL5 and DL10, since they are source material, I'm not sure how much I'll be able to convert. DL15 and DL16 are collections of short adventures, so that might take me a bit longer to convert, maybe not. But nonetheless, that's the plan.

Just purchased DL1 and looking forward to purchasing DL2 all the way through. My group isn't too happy with the 5e premade adventures and wanted more action with dragons, so I decided old school Dragonlance is the way to go. I was going to do this legwork myself but found your conversion nice & convenient. Again, looking forward to your other works soon! Thanks!

Thank you so much! I love making these but I learned a lot since I started, so I knew I had to go back and update the first and second one so far. I'm happy with this version, though I have a 2.65 coming out to fix a few minor typos and such. I am currently about a week away from updating Dragonlances in Faerûn: DL2 Dragons of Flame to v2.0. Then on the making DL3!

It must be said, this is a pretty clever approach and an artful way to avoid copyright violation. Well done!

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
