Volos' Guide to Volo: Excerpt no. 1

An excerpt from the upcoming Volo's Guide to Volo Sourcebook.

Excerpt no. 1 includes five new playable subclasses

All subclasses are extrapolated and retroengineered from Monster Manual and Volo's Guide to Monsters entries.

Bard: College of Smiles. Originally created by the Cloud Giants, since the breaking of the Ordning, many races now smile.

Cleric: Fury Domain. Gruumsh was one of the first gods to grant this domain, but now many gods do.

Fighter: Dreadnought. The fire giants have lost their monopoly on this fighter archetype.

Monk: Way of the Monitor. The Kuo-Toa developed the monitors beneath the waves, but after worshipping a few humanoid "gods", the way of the monitor has spread to other races and has evolved into an elite freelance fighting force for hire.

Wizard: School of Devastation. Hobgoblins no longer have the only devastators, now the other races have the ability to fight firepower with firepower.

Also included is 10 pages of Legendary Heroes, extrapolated from existing Legendary Creatures but now made into a cohesive add on rule set for PCs!

Stats for shields and how to use them in combat and a fighting style that allows you to weild two shields at once.

Actually because the system was taking longer than I thought it would, updated with 10 pages of legendary actions and rules for PCs. Lair Actions and Regional Effects will be added as I get them finished.

Added 2 more subclasses, next update will be massive (30 pages more of a full legendary system for monsters and heroes). Price will at least double so buy it now before the price increase.

What does Volo have to do with Eberron?

I suppose it doesn't except these subclasses work for those campaigns. I have removed that tag so as not to confuse people.

I didn't mean to sound snarky. Lots of other people are including Eberron in Forgotten Realms specific material. I was only curious about your product.

So far most of the material is looking like it will all be generic setting, although there are some FR specific deities.

I think you'll all really like the lair actions and legendary actions broken down as an add on system for Epic Heroes style games.

Wait, is this a paid excerpt or are you planning on updating this space?

This is a paid extract, that I will be adding new content to as I progress on the main book

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
