Bloodlines: A Compilation of 6 Extraordinary Playable Races, 3 Backgrounds, and 25 Titanic Feats

From Passion Fueled Flames to The Marks of a Titan

This guide includes additional racial options, feats, and backgrounds to help you further your imaginative adventures. With this supplement, you can roleplay a hearty being of pure elemental fire or a boastful, feathered humanoid that inhabits the treetops of an Owling eyrie.

The guide includes statistics and lore for two races found in the Monster Manual as well as four original races. Additionally, it includes three backgrounds and a suite of twenty five Titanic feats that are available to Titankin, as well as ideas for DMs who want to award them to non-Titankin characters within their campaign.

Summary of what’s included:

Races:

  • Azer are beings of pure elemental fire, crafted rather than born. They occupy finely constructed bodies of brass and are immune to the effects of heat and fire.
  • Illithid, or Mind Flayers, are tentacle-faced humanoids that inhabit the Underdark and perhaps still a few scattered strongholds on the Astral plane. Their innate psionic abilities include telepathy and the capability to read the thoughts of creatures they grapple with their face tentacles.
  • Larnak will do anything to survive. The arctic humanoids are excellent swimmers but are not generally well received by other races due to their corpulent nature and their nasty dinner habits.
  • Mosin are reclusive, moose-like humanoids who shun civilized areas in favor of the wilderness. Many spend most of their lives in quiet solitude, but a few more extroverted ones might form into family units or tribes of up to a dozen or so in size.
  • Owlings are superstitious, Halfling sized, bird-like humanoids that are divided into subraces. Groundlings are burrowing Owlings that enjoy the comforts of hearth and home, Hornlings are Owlings with tufted ears that never fail to avenge an insult to their pride, and Screechlings, who are small (even by Owling standards), tend to be the Owlings least fond of rules and talk, preferring to spend their time hiding among the trees. This guide includes 3 subraces of Owlings: Groundlings, Hornlings, and Screenlings.
  • Titankin blood contains a recessive link to the Titans of old lore. Every so often, a bit of the diluted bloodline of the old Titans shows itself in the child of Humans, Goliaths, Firbolgs, or other humanoids. The Titankin shares some of the strength of its ancestors but are touched by the will of the Titans in different ways based on their path, alignment, or ancestry.

Choose from three new background options including the cook background which grants you the ability to bolster the spirits of your companions with morale boosting meals, the outcast background for the character who was shunned by her community, and the survivor background for the character that has lived on through the destruction of his homeland.

Finally, choose from 25 Titanic Feats. These feats can be used to customize your Titankin character or can be used by others touched by an encounter with a Titan. There are three subtypes of Titanic feats in this supplement:

  • Titan’s Heart feats designate that you have within you the heart that matches the will of a specific Titan. These feats work best for a character who is open to completing the task given to them by their respective Titan and are usually only available to Titankin characters or characters that complete an epic quest for a specific Titan. They include: Beast Heart, Burning Heart, Dark Heart, Ice Heart, Radiant Heart, and Storm Heart.
  • Titan-Touched feats are appropriate for both true Titankin and Titan-Touched members of other races. They are also excellent options to award for encounters with Titans. Each feat includes one feature that is only useable under certain conditions that match those favorable to a specific type of Titan as well as another feature only available to characters of 5th level or higher. Titan-Touched feats include: Grave Touched, Ice Touched, Lightning Touched, Moon Touched, Shadow Touched, and Sun Touched.
  • Titan’s Blood feats are usually only available to Titankin characters. These feats stem from having the blood of a true Titan running through your veins. They include: Titan’s Charm, Titan’s Fortune, Titan’s Grace, Titan’s Knowledge, Titan’s Presence, Titan’s Recovery, Titan’s Refuge, Titan’s Sight, Titan’s Spirit, Titan’s Strength, Titan’s Voice, Titan’s Will, and Titan’s Wrath.

I've spent a great deal of time compiling this book and attempting to make the races, backgrounds and feats balanced. But, working on it by myself, there are bound to be a few small kinks. If you notice any errors, please let me know. More importantly, if you playtest any of the options here, I'd love it if you would let me know how it went. I hope you'll check out Bloodlines; there a lot of options here that will inspire you to want to create new characters.

You can check out all of my other DM's Guild titles (some of which are Pay What You Want) to get a feel for my work before or after making this purchase.

The Lawful: There is a lot of creativity in here. Azers and Mind Flayers are both races I've often thought would make great PC choices and they're represented very well here! The author did a great job explaining why a Mind Flayer would be out adventur [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
