Presented here is a revised version of the Wayfarer's Guide to Eberron, Warforged Race.

The Integrated Protection presented in the WGtE version is simply busted. It is balanced around the assumption that +x plate armor will exist, and that is completely contrary to D&D 5th Edition's design.

Presented here is an alternative. It provides Warforged with a natural AC, and allows them to use their Constitution modifier in place of their Dexterity modifier for AC Calculations. This uses up a large part of the race's feature budget, but not so much that it can't have subclasses. I was able to improve the Juggernaut's Iron Fist feature to 1d6 from 1d4, and replace the travel bonuses of the Skirmisher with Darkvision.

in actuality Warforged have no base armor like any other race, they had to take a feat for either of their 2 types of plating. its also limited by armor proficiency. so a warforged wizard isnt walking around with full plate unless they dont want to cast spells, just like already in the rules.

and +x magic plate DOES exist. even in the simple fact that anyone with proficiency in Arcana can simply spend the time and money to make it.

further, you changing the scout removed the concept of them. they weren't used as night sentries, they were used as overland scouts.

personally it feels that you've disregarded the fluff of what warforged are in favor of just making them a more "OP" race, which they already were to begin with.

but ultimately already trying to manipulate and change something that is only in early testing to begin with.

I naturally buy Eberron produtcts as I fell in love with the setting from day one back in 3.5. But i'm actually...See more

stupid dmsguild didn't edit my comment. the first line is about how warforged were originally, then talks about the limits of 5e race's racial feature.

for scouts, you removed a feature you most likely just didn't like, and in doing so changed the concept of that "model" of warforged.

but in the end, instead of jumping the gun and trying to make your own, you should try actually doing what the UA doc and the WFGtE are currently meant to do.... playtest and submit feedback so Wizards can update, edit, and revise before releasing the final product.

Hi Nicholas

I totally agree with you on the Scout. I've revisited some of the source material and will reincorporate the overland travel benefits in a next iteration. It was a complete oversight on my part. Thanks for pointing it out.

In regards to the armor; Warforged have always been 'living armor' in a way. In all three of WotC's iterations (Eberron UA, Keith Baker's own take, and the new WGtE warforged), AC has been a pivotal part of their design.

What they all did wrong though was break Bounded Accuracy; which is a balancing metric used all throughout 5th Edition. Essentially Bounded Accuracy ensures that there is an upper and lower limit of expectable stats at any given tier of play. What Bounded Accuracy doesn't account for, and in fact nothing in 5E accounts for, is magic items. Just look at the random loot tables in the DMG and you'll see that the chance of rolling up +3 Platemail is, well. It's frankly astronomically low odds. Let alone the fact that *nothing* in...See more

Good revisions. I think this is a real improvement over wizard's design. The one thing I dislike is the unarmored defense. Maybe you should make it more like the Lizard folk's and remove the limit on ability score AC increase? It just seems to hurt players who role good stats.

This is already like the Lizardfolk's Natural Armor, in that it caps at 17 AC and allows for shields. It's primarily a ribbon. The real meat is the swapping DEX in AC calcs for CON, which enables a lot of builds and relegates the Warforged to the 'beefy' race when sat next to other members of the same class of different races.

But thank you for your interest! I hope you enjoy it!

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
