Reading the previous comments leads me to believe most people just didn't get it. The point of the module first and foremost was to showcase the release of the book Mordenkains Tome of Foes. Secondly, while it is for sale on here, the module was free at your local FLGS ( or on ROLL20). I DM'd it both at my FLGS, and on Roll20. Both groups had a blast playing the module. Both sets of groups resulted in a TPK, where even another group didn't make it in time before the "bomb" going off. Having pregens saved time for character creation, because frankly there was no way someone with no knowledge of the setting would have a hope of surviving. So, if you want to try out some new races, with interesting classes, and a module designed for your characters to explore something you would RARELY even see, get the module and have fun.

Any module that requires players to take roles that they didn't themselves create is not worthy of organized play. We play D&D to player *our* characters, not characters in someone else's fantasy. Thousands of posts and words govern how we can build and play our characters for a reason, and it's not so we can be told to put our characters away and play someone else's creation. It's fine if it's for a scene, or to play an NPC alongside our characters, but the whole structure of this adventure is one big, 'No. You don't get to play characters you're invested in. My creations are more interesting than yours.'

Because you don't get to play your characters, there is nothing to keep. No advancement to your characters: no ACP. Even the relatively worthless TCP of Season 8 is off the table. Instead, you get a story award novelty gift for your waste of 8 hours.

Skip this and spend your money on a more worthy module.

3/5 While this was a fairly fun adventure, the lack of any reward other than the cosmetic story award hurts it a little.
The final boss fight is also a problem. If played correctly then the players have no reasonable way to win unless the are extremely lucky or the DM is extremely unlucky on their rolls.
I imagine most party's that win only do so because the DM did not play the monsters to their fullest abilities

One question: Page 23 Collapse Distance damage, Does the target creature's save reduce the Damage to any creature within 10' of it, or do those creatures also get a Save? Really ambiguous.

Is this legal for Adventurer's League play?

Yes, but you must use the pregens. At the end, everyone (including the DM) gets a story award they may apply to an existing character.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
