Warlock Invocations: New and Revised

Suggested Price $0.50

Within these pages you’ll find some new and original invocations to include in your game. This includes additional support for invocations meant for particular pacts, as well as a revision of the Pact of the Blade. In addition, I have rebalanced or re-written some previous invocations. For those that have been re-worked, I will be including a brief explanation for why I’ve adjusted the invocation from its original incarnation. Enjoy!

Some of the invocations were neat, but really you shouldn't have changed Pact of the Blade. Anyone going that pact is going melee not ranged. They wouldn't take Eldritch Blast.

And if someone is focusing Eldritch Blast, not only are they not going to take that pact, but there are already specific invocations for that cantrip.

Sorry you feel that way. But the way that I see it, the Eldritch Blast cantrip already comes with an automatic increase in number of attacks, meaning that it does not require the additional mechanic for Extra Attack to be included in the design for a Pact of the Blade to be useful. By making Eldritch Blast a viable melee attack method, I feel it solves a number of problems inherent in shoe-horning multiple features between Pact of the Blade and Hexblade to make a decent melee gish, allowing for the two to have the design space and balance needed to avoid the pitfalls presented in the current versions of Pact of the Blade and the Hexblade. From my point of view, the PHB version of Pact of the Blade is too weak compared to the other pacts, while the XGtE's version of the Hexblade is so strong as to make every other Patron obsolete. Additionally, I disagree that Pact of the Blade must only be used for melee, as demonstrated by the invocation in XGtE Improved Pact Weapon (which allows for ranged weapons to be included...See more

Nick, thank you for your feedback and taking the time to rate my product. In response I have updated the document to include my reasoning for the changes made to Pact of the Blade.

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
