Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron (5e)

Watermarked PDF
$19.99

Eberron was born in 2002 when Wizards of the Coast launched a worldwide search for a new campaign setting.

Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron brings the eponymous campaign setting to the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons. This 175 page book gives you everything you need to create an Eberron story or character, exploring the core themes of the setting and the rules to implement them in fifth edition. It includes an overview of Khorvaire and the fantastic city of Sharn, along with a host of background ideas and story hooks.

Playtest material includes the unique races of Eberron, the mystical dragonmarks (including greater dragonmarks and aberrant dragonmarks), and new magic items; this is a living document, and this content will evolve and be updated in response to feedback.

Want to create and publish your own Eberron PDFs?

The Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron can serve as your jumping off point to create your own monsters, adventure modules, and other tabletop content set within Eberron and put it up for sale on the Dungeon Masters Guild.

In the most recent PDF updated release, there is still no bookmark for Elves. It goes from Dwarves to Gnomes and skips over Elves on p72. Can you please add this bookmark, since this is a locked PDF and users are allowed to create their own. Thanks. :D

I’m new to the Eberron setting. I’ve purchased The Wayfinders Guide but want to learn more about the world. What other Eberron books would people recommend to learn more about the setting?

The old 3.5 books: Eberron core book, Eberron Player's Guide, & Sharn: City of Towers would be the best ones.

What I really want to see, more than anything, is stats for Gnoll PCs added to the races alongside the existing Changeling, Shifter, Warforged and Kalashtar. "Generic" 5e gnolls are demon-spawn, but unless Keith Baker is explicitly retconning it away, the gnolls of Eberron are predominantly non-evil and serve a very important role as the peacekeepers of Droaam. Whilst Volo's already provides stats for playable orcs, goblinoids, kobolds and lizardfolk, this is an opportunity to add a missing monstrous adventurer race with a tradition stretching back through literally every single edition of D&D prior to 5e.

The start of mark of Finding still lists humans and half-orcs as being recipients of the dragonmark.
Unsure of the reason behind taking it away from humans, but if that's going to happen, large chunks need rewrites.

Agreed, just noticed that myself. Frankly, it doesn't make much sense given all of Eberrons lore thus far. Would pretty much require almost an entire re write of the house Lore wise.

While I love that the document is getting updated. I'd rather a separate errata be released so that I "know" the differences between the document more easily.

I strongly agree. I can't tell what's different at all despite the email alert "Significant rules update to rules around dragonmarks." Checked every page in that section and they look exactly the same compared to the original document.

Update: Saw this posted in Facebook:

Changes are as follows:

p97 - Mark of Finding: (EDIT: The mark is now limited to half-orcs only, no humans.) Imprint Prey feature also has slight clarification about quarry not getting advantage on attack rolls against you.

p99 - Mark of Healing: Added Spare the Dying cantrip. (to make space on page, they also removed some flavor text about example character Folk Hero Bard)

p106 - fixed typo that said "Mark of Detection" instead of "Mark of Storm"

Who is the “I” that is talking in most of the book? (“I would let a player do x”; “I imagined a world of swashbuckling adventure”; etc.) There’s no singular author credited. It’s bugging me. Can someone let me know?

On p.106 in the "Mark of Storm Traits" there is a typo that reads 'The Mark of Detection manfiests...' when it should read, 'The Mark of Storms manifests.'

Maybe it will make it into an update.

Regarding the Sentinel Human Dragonmark. When you designate a ward it’s an action. But how long does your ward last? Do you have to designate them every action? Or does it just last forever?

To wrangle this one in, I would say that's it's concentration. You take damage, you have to make a save. You fail, you have to spend an action reestablishing your ward. As far as how long you can keep it active while concentrating, I'd say until you want to end it. You can only concentrate on one thing at a time, so you still have to choose between a ward and any other spell/ability that may require your attention.

Not sure if that's inline with the author's intention, but it makes the most logical sense in the absence of an official response.

I see over 80 comments in the discussion - I've read none, yet. So, I don't know if this has been covered...

My players all want the option to play the "monster races" from Volo's Guide, PLUS GNOLLS. Since the ALPG for Eberron [1.0] came out yesterday and the approved sources are listed as PHB + XGTE + WGTE, they and I would VERY MUCH like to see those races added to the WGTE when printed in its FINAL VERSION.

Thank You!

hi, i read your post and went looking for the eberron alpg but can't see to find it, would you mind sharing a link? or help guiding me in the right direction?
Customer avatar
Nicholas M August 30, 2018 1:36 pm UTC
With them already printed in a book, you're not going to see them added a second time. Wouldn't make sense to take up space for it.

However, Eberron isn't like most settings when it comes to "monster races" meaning its a lot more open. Darguun is a goblinoid nation for example. The lesser "monster" races like goblin, kobold, lizardfolk, gnolls, hobgoblins, orc, bugbears, etc while not common are not rare either. Just use the stats from those books.

In the Eberron ALPG v1.1 they've added SOME of the monstrous races from VGTM, but not Orcs (why?). Gnolls are not currently in an official WOTC 5E source. I'd STILL like to see them added to the Wayfinder's Guide.
As for duplicating information from previous books, I will rest my case with citing classes in BOTH the SCAG and XGTE. There is precedent.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
