Solo Adventure Bundle 1 (Fantasy Grounds)

5e Solo Gamebooks presents Citadel of the Raven, the third in our series of solo adventures. Citadel of the Raven is the sequel to Tyrant of Zhentil Keep but is also playable as a standalone solo adventure. The first solo adventure in this series is titled The Death Knight’s Squire.

This is a Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition adventure designed for one level 3 player, without a DM. It can also be played by two players without a DM, as a DM+1 adventure or even as a full DM-led campaign with multiple players, but it is primarily designed for a solo player. The written narrative entries in this book serve in place of the dungeon master and guide you through the adventure.

At 589 entries, you can expect a lot of variety from this solo quest. There are several main paths your character could take, and numerous encounters and options on those paths (including short sub-threads designed for specific classes), making the number of possible adventures practically endless. Add to that the characteristics of your class, and the numerous variegated combat encounters, and it’s safe to say that no two run-throughs of Citadel of the Raven will be the same.

24 maps are also included.

At the end of this quest, you will advance to level 4, in anticipation of the next solo quest, planned for release in the near future.

This is an outstanding product… a true D&D experience of the highest quality... You can expect a challenging and engaging D&D roleplaying experience from this solo adventure. 5 stars. I hope they make the entire series to level 20.

Ray D.

The Citadel of the Raven is an incredibly replayable solo adventure featuring diverse and challenging combat encounters, as well as a wide array of areas to explore.

Kristina Chun

I didn't know who to trust in the adventure, everyone seemed to have their own secret agenda going...Be ready to stay at the edge of your seats!

Adrian Aguirre Riofrio

Citadel Of The Raven is such a large solo adventure that I got lost. I got lost in the wilderness, and underground, before finding my way. And it's a great thing to explore a world where you can wander, have new adventures and discover a little bit of the unknown.

James Svoboda

Citadel of the Raven, the next epic length solo-adventure installment by author Paul Bimler, is heavy in immersive storytelling and glittered with moments of narrative-driven combat sequences, which leaves the player completely swimming in an enthralling high-fantasy adventure. The replayability is nearly endless and the combat, derived from a rich assortment of creatures and villains spanning D&D history, was nothing less than thrilling. In short, you’d be foolish to pass over this experience.

David La Boon

It might be a good idea to go and play through Tyrant of Zhentil Keep before you embark on this quest. Citadel of the Raven is playable as a standalone, but there are many clues and items gained in Tyrant of Zhentil Keep that may – or may not! – prove useful in this quest.

These books are written for players who can’t find a group, DMs who seem to have had that role thrust on them for all eternity, and anyone wanting to discover how a solo adventure works.

Our next solo adventure in the pipeline, another solo gamebook adventure, as yet untitled.

I had great fun playing this game. I don't always have a DM available when I want to play, so this was a perfect answer to let me get some playing time without having to find someone else to run the game. I get to be the DM.. new though I am at it, it was easy to follow the instructions on how to place the monsters, etc. Like was mentioned in the information, it is recommended that you pay Tyrant of Zhentil Keep before playing this game as there are some items that can be helpful in this adventure. If you remember the old "Choose Your Own Adventure" type of stories, that is a good comparison to what this game is like. Great replayability as well. So many choices and so many results. :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
