Path of Fury: A Path for Barbarians Who Channel the Pain of their Past into Ferocious Exploits

If you’ve ever entered the fray and wanted to slam two opponents together, be temporarily impervious to pain, or inspire bloodlust in your compatriots after dealing a deadly blow, then the Path of Fury is the way forward.

The Path of Fury offers a new path for barbarians who don’t mind giving up certain resistances to perform ferocious exploits in battle. This path does for the barbarian what the Battlemaster archetype does for the fighter, but instead of learning maneuvers from practicing in the courtyard of some vassal’s keep, the Path of Fury grants access to exploits that have been honed in the heat of life or death battles.

The path offers access to ferocity dice to fuel your choice of 17 exploits. It also includes the additional state of fury (an alternative to rage) where you sacrifice some resistance and damage bonuses for an increased chance to hit and the ability to perform unique attacks, inspire your allies, or cripple your enemies.

This guide offers guidance on selecting a role-playing reason for taking the path, all of the features offered by the path, and a feat for those who want access to a limited number of exploits without truly becoming a barbarian.

The path will be popular for those who want to multi-class into the first few levels of barbarian as well, since the fury state offers more mental clarity than that of the raging barbarian, allowing for the casting of spells that don’t require concentration.

The Path of Fury is not for the faint of heart, but you’re not that type. You are, after all, a barbarian.

The bundle includes 2 versions of the document. The first has a parchment background for screen reading and the second has a white background more suitable for printing.

The Path of Fury is a nuanced path on par with complex options like the Fighter’s Battle Master Archetype, Sorcerer options, and others complex paths and classes.
Here are answers to some questions that may arise:

1. Does a character have to be raging to enter a fury?

Yes. This is in intentional. The anger experienced while raging is a gateway into the fury state.

2. What is purpose of the catharsis effect? It almost seems more like a debuff than a buff.

Catharsis is intended to solve a few potential play issues. First, Catharsis does indeed put a cooldown on raging after having entered a fury. This is intended to stop a player from raging, immediately going into a fury, spending all ferocity dice as fast as possible, and returning to a rage. Because the passive benefits of raging eclipse the passive benefits of being in a fury, the cooldown created by Catharsis is a way to balance the power of the class and cause the player to make more tactical decisions...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
