This template works for OneNote 2016 only! If you ever find a way to make it work with the Windows 10 App version of OneNote, please feel free to explain how you did it!

This project includes a OneNote template file, as well as a free fitting font - Tex Gyre Bonum. It is designed to help organize and design game worlds as well as offering a good experience while playing D&D 5th Edition. Most of the currently available SRD rules are included or on their way to be released in the template.

The template is designed to be used as an electronic tool while preparing or playing a game session but more options in regards to creating custom content, exporting and compiling are going to be added in the future. If you have any critique or wishes for alteration or features, please contact me using the Dungeon Masters Guild Website or via E-Mail.

Check out my other D&D content as well:

I'm really not sure what I did differently from anyone else, but I got this opened in the Windows 10 OneNote. I imported the template in OneNote 2016 and then opened it in Windows 10 OneNote.

You could support the newer OneNote by sharing a read-only link to the OneDrive location of the notebook. Then people can open it and copy the sections into their own campaign notebooks.

This does not work with the newest Windows 10 version of Onenote. The desktop program is no longer included with Office 365, and even though I unzipped the individual files from the package with 7-zip, Onenote still won't open them. Beware of this! If there is a solution, I'd love to know.

Actually, another kind purchaser revealed the answer. You can get Onenote 2016 for free: https://www.onenote.com/download. Just click on the "desktop" version.

Are the pages suppose to have the information linked and automatically update? I don't mind copy pasting, but I would like to avoid it if it's a built in feature that I'm not utilizing correctly.

it should be noted that this only works with OneNote 2016. The current version of OneNote via Office 365 or free with windows 10 does not allow for templates

Thats a very good remark! I was not aware of this issue, thank you.
I'll try to find a way to make it work.

I never found a solution since the new OneNote for Windows 10 is just useless in that regard. There appears to be no export / import functionality whatsoever. I recommend using the OneNote 2016 version and either copy the segments you'd like to use or... well, just use the superior 2016 version altogether.

So - Onenote newbie here. How can I open that file? Even after uploading it to OneDrive, I can't access it - only my own notebooks.

Okay, so I am not currently using OneNote for my campaigns so my knowledge might be a bit rusty as well. From what I understand you should be able to open the file without a problem on any Windows machine. If you are using a Mac - just like I do and I do get the same problem you have described - you need to open the file on a Windows machine first and sync it there so it will be available on your Mac.

The implementation of OneNote on MacOS still seems somewhat buggy, unfinished and rather tedious at times. Thats the reason I switched to Scrivener for personal use. However, on Windows it seems to work like a charm.

I hope this helps. If not, I may be able to help after I get home from work. Feel free to reply again if you need further assistance :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
