Scrivener Template for D&D 5e

Multiple File Formats
Suggested Price $1.00

This project includes a Scrivener template file for MacOS and Windows, as well as a free fitting font - Tex Gyre Bonum. It is designed to help organize and design game worlds as well as offering a good experience while playing D&D 5th Edition. Most of the currently available SRD rules are included or on their way to be released in the template.

The template is designed to be used as an electronic tool while preparing or playing a game session but more options in regards to creating custom content, exporting and compiling are going to be added in the future. If you have any critique or wishes for alteration or features, please contact me using the Dungeon Masters Guild Website or via E-Mail.

Note: The template file should work for every Scrivener 3 release on MacOS and the current Scrivener 3 Beta on Windows. For any older version of Scrivener - including any Windows version - download the legacy file instead!

The file doesn't seem to be working. When I try to create a new Scrivener project from the template, it says that the template is invalid, with the following error message: No project data could be found in the specified template file.

Are you using Scrivener 3? Are you on MacOS or Windows?
The template was created for Scrivener version 3 on MacOS. I am unsure whether or not the template works in any older versions but I may be able to research the issue on Windows systems when I get off work.

Same issue here. Last version of Scrivener on Windows. The only difference, in my case, is that it doesn't show me an error message, it just won't create the project when clicking on its button.

Edit.: Forget it. Did my second research. Windows users still don't have Scrivener 3 available, just Scrivener 1 (which is more or less based on Scrivener 2 from MacOS).

Thank you for pointing out the issue. Since I released it primarily for the MacOS release of Scrivener, I'll need some time to check on the problem and try to work out a solution. I hope to achieve a satisfying result in a few hours and will update the files / add apropriate files afterwards.
Stay tuned!

I uploaded a new legacy version of the template that should work for any Scrivener version on MacOS and Windows that is not Scrivener 3 or the Scrivener 3 Beta on Windows. If you use an older version of Scrivener, try the legacy version instead and report back any problems you might have.

You are able to download the Scrivener 3 Beta for Windows on the official Scrivener forums by the way, however there are still some bugs and I would not recommend it for serious work.

Thanks for the legacy version, that seemed to do the trick. I was using Scrivener 2.8 on the MacOS.

Nice job on this! I'm looking forward to playing around with it.

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
