This project includes a Scrivener template file for MacOS and Windows, as well as a free fitting font - Tex Gyre Bonum. It is designed to help organize and design game worlds as well as offering a good experience while playing D&D; 5th Edition. Most of the currently available SRD rules are included or on their way to be released in the template.

Template Preview 1 Template Preview 2

The template is designed to be used as an electronic tool while preparing or playing a game session but more options in regards to creating custom content, exporting and compiling are going to be added in the future. If you have any critique or wishes for alteration or features, please contact me using the Dungeon Masters Guild Website or via E-Mail.

Note: The template file should work for every Scrivener 3 release on MacOS and the current Scrivener 3 Beta on Windows. For any older version of Scrivener - including any Windows version - download the legacy file instead!

A lot of good work here, thanks! However, I'm noticing that the character classes are incomplete. They all contain only one subclass. The Barbarian for instance contains the Path of the Berserker but not the Path of the Totem Warrior. Any chance of an update?

Those other subclasses are not part of the SRD and therefore can not be part of the template.

Downloaded both Versions, imported them, and they are Opening, but there is nothing in it. Just a bunch of Blocks with "A collection of all ... included in the SRD" what am I doing wrong?

For everyone having trouble with Scrivener 3, there's a VERY easy fix. It's just missing a few folders, and I was able to open it without a problem just now.

1. Make the new Scrivener project using the template. It'll give you the "can't open because it's missing xyz" popup and close all Scrivener windows. That's fine. You want to make sure it created the project, which it will have.

2. Go to the save location (Mine is in Dropbox/Apps because I use mobile Scrivener too, so it would be C:UsersxxxDropboxAppsScrivener)

3. Open the file folder

4. Add a folder called "Files"

5. Inside said "Files" folder, add folders called "Data", "Docs", and "ProjectNotes"

You should be able to open it after that and the things that go in the "Files" folder should autopopulate once you open the new project.

This is a good template and I love that you added so many of the SRD rules and statblocks, however I would suggest having that information in the resources section not under general. I was trying to add pdfs for 3rd party subclasses and Scrivener won't let you add them in the drafts section. I solved this by dragging the Classes folder down to Resources, but even so it seems like that info belongs their anyway.

Does this work with Scrivener3? I just purchased and it won't open. I may be doing something wrong as I never used this app before.

It's not compatible with the more recent update anymore. I loved to use this template but unfortunately it's now impossible to start a new project.

An awesome template - the resources are so much more detailed than I expected. Internal links make it more of a wiki than just a collection of notes.

I am tempted to buy Scrivener on my iPad for my Campaign building, does this template work with the iPadOS/iOS version of Scrivener?

This looks ace but unfortunately isn't working for me. Clicking the Create button doesn't appear to have any effect.

Using Scrivener Version: 1.9.16.0 - 14 Nov 2019 on Windows 10 v1903

Steps:
1: Installed all fonts
2: Imported the 5e_DD_Template.scrivtemplate into Scrivener via the New Project > Import Template option
3: Attempting to create a project from template using the create button has no results.

I am able to create a project from the legacy template, so will use the for the time being.

Thanks!

I noted this in the description. The legacy template is for just these cases with Windows versions or older Scrivener versions. It is, however, completely the same otherwise.

You have to use the "New Project..." option under "Files". There you will find "Options" where you can "Import Templates...". After that you can browse your templates and after selecting it, click on "Choose".
This is with the newest version of Scrivener in mind. If you use a different version, the appropriate buttons might have different names.

Thank you (I was having the same problem.)
BTW - I really appreciate you making this - I didn't realize you had put so much thought into it. I honestly think this is the all-in-one toolbox for D&D. Thank you so much for putting so much time into it. Wish I could give you more than just compliments, but here's to you.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
