50 Magic Items originally designed for the D8 Night Podcast by D8 Night DM: Will Mayer

The enigmatic gnome inventor wizard Krinkle Firetouch is no stranger to magic items. In fact, he has made a few of his own over the years while holed up as a hermit in almost every conceivable dimension.

This book contains 50 magic items, some designed by Firetouch, and others that he has encountered throughout the years. Some of the items are powerful, some are novel, and others are as unpredictable as the gnome himself. In this book you will find your fill of magic items from serious to silly, including Krinkle Firetouch’s “Blunder”buss (with 2 d20 randomization tables), The Politer Smiter (an axe with 2 disparate attitudes), The Limb of the Raventree, Tashi’s Life Siphon, The Gloves of Dumpster Diving, and many, many more.

The book also includes a handful of depictions of the items and color commentary from Krinkle Firetouch himself; including what he thinks of Crimpy Elderweasel and how he feels about transmutation magic.

This is my first entry publication for the Dungeon Masters’ Guild, but it is one that I thoroughly enjoyed making. If you notice anything amiss with wording, format, rarity levels or anything else, please let me know. I am a long time GM, but a relatively new DM, just having started my first D&D campaign in December of 2017. I have done my best to match the wording conventions of the Dungeon Master’s Guide, but this was a solo project with a pretty steep learning curve for me that involved not only abiding by rules and effect wording, but also attempting to emulate the style and formatting of official D&D publications.

The bundle includes 2 versions of the document. The first has a parchment background for screen reading and the second has a white background more suitable for printing.

While perusing Krinkle Firetouch's Guide I found myself transported right back into why I love this game; creativity and a bit of wonder and humor. The items seem balanced and based in the ruleset proper, but a bit of real love was put into this guide, [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
