An original interactive story for level 3 solo players. Nominated for a 2019 ENnie Award!

Woman standing with sword in hands

Soldra is a beautiful, ancient city, flanked by sea and mountain and lit by the sun as if blessed by the gods themselves. But its beauty comes with a price. After a tumultuous history fighting dragons that attacked and looted the city, the superstitious citizens of Soldra make an annual offering to appease the dragon god, Bahamut. A virgin woman, selected at random from Soldra’s citizenry, is exiled to Garra’s Peak, where she is left at the mercy of dragons. None of the women have ever returned.

This year’s sacrificial ceremony does not go as planned. What will transpire on Garra’s Peak?

Praise for The Executioner's Daughter

  • "I LOVE this solo adventure. Great job!" — Anna S., @anna_shelton_ on Twitter
  • "Ashley Warren has woven a great tale that is as equally suited for an engaging D&D adventure as it is a compelling piece of short fiction. It's highly adaptive so you could use this as a hook for a larger narrative, a nice backstory adventure to give a new PC some depth, or as a break from your busy day to sit down and relax with a fantastic story about hard decisions and superstitions." — Patrick H., @nonzerosumgames on Instagram / NZS Games on Facebook
  • "This is a beautiful, moving story." — Melissa M., via email

What happened to that playlist curated for this adventure promised at the front of the book? Couldn't find that on your website.

Can you scale this adventure up? I've got a group of level 4 adventurers and I only just discovered this!

I'm so sorry, Bob, I just saw this! You can definitely scale this up. I'd use a young black dragon instead of the obsidian dragon, and swap out the blood hawks for giant vultures. :)

Are the other parts out yet??

Soooon, I promise! Right after I published this one my publishing schedule got crazy (in a good way)! I'll be releasing parts 2 and 3 at the same time -- it will also include an updated version of this module with added stat blocks! :)

So will that be a single purchase for all 3 parts or will each part be seperate?
Customer avatar
Ashley W July 03, 2019 8:29 pm UTC
Single purchase for all three adventures! :)

In your summary you state, "...the superstitious citizens of Soldra make an annual offering to appease the dragon god, Bahamut." Did you perhaps enter this wrong since Bahamut is the deity of the good dragons? Or do I need to read the adventure to understand why Bahamut is used?

It’s addressed in the adventure. :)

Hey Jobi! That's strange. I'll look into this. In the meantime, I'd be happy to email you a copy; shoot me an email: You might also want to check your library to see if it somehow arrived there.

There was a comment here that I don't see anymore for some reason, asking about the size of the file. I will compress it and re-upload. :) I think some of the graphics made it so large. Sorry about that! I didn't realize how big it was.

Are there stats for the executioner's sword that's you get at the end? The one with the obsidian blade and the gold dragon hilt? Are the stats just normal longsword stats? I love the idea of the sword, I just wish I could use it...

Hi! I had planned on including the sword stats, along with new Domenica stats (depending on how she fares in the adventure...) when this story is bundled with the other two stories in the trilogy, coming out later this year. However, you're not the first to ask, so I may release it in an update!

If you want to use the sword, use normal longsword stats along with 1D6 radiant damage. It also has the added feature (which you can choose to keep or disregard) of imbuing the target with the effects of a Calm spell once a day. (Essentially, since the sword belonged to the Executioner, it was intended to allow its target to die in relative peace.)

Thank you all so much for your support of this title! :) Addressing a few FAQs:

- While there are no maps in this version, there will be maps and a few additional stat blocks (such as the Executioner's Sword and a new Domenica stat block based on the developments of the story) included in the full TRIBUNAL anthology book (which will include the two other stories in this trilogy).
- The TRIBUNAL book will also have info about how to run these stories as a DM with 1 to 2 players.
- I'll likely be implementing a scalable difficulty option for the final boss battle. Playtesting yielding interesting and conflicting results and that's how the stats were optimized, but I've gotten some great feedback that I'm certainly taking into account!
- This story is set in the same realm (Emberez) as three of my multiplayer titles: A NIGHT OF MASKS AND MONSTERS, LABYRINTH OF THORNS, and THE STARLIGHT RELIC. So these solo stories will be included in that anthology as well. If you are playing those...See more

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
