ZETH-01 Six Summoned Swords (CCC-PHA-01)

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Meaningful decisions, unexpected twists and memorable characters are the foundations of this dark 4-hour adventure for 5th to 10th level characters.

A chance encounter on an unassuming road leads to a dangerous and lucrative opportunity.  But what seems simple on the surface turns out to be much more below.  Thrust into a world where every enemy has an enemy and everyone has their own dark motive, the only chance to survive is to ally with the right foe.  Sometimes “doing the right thing” comes only in shades of black.

Six Summoned Swords is a stand-alone adventure that begins on the side of the road leading to Phlan and can be easily accessed by any adventurers traveling through the Moonsea region.

In addition to a world full of intrigue and complex character choices, purchasing this adventure includes:

  • An Official Adventurers League magic item certificate
  • Printable portrait cards with roleplaying tips for important NPCs
  • Gridded reference maps for combat encounters
  • Condition icons to help track character status
  • Special Certificate Holder ideal for event play
  • NEW: Season 8 Item Unlock Handout - prints 9 to a page, one for every player!

* Looking for an adventure to run at your special game day or convention?  This adventure includes a “certificate holder” that features specially created art of the adventure’s magic item.  When printed in colour and on card stock, it perfectly frames the official AL magic item certificate from this adventure and makes for an unforgettable souvenir.

About the Swords Below the Moonsea Saga

The saga consists of three adventures, with this  adventure serving as a stand-alone prelude. The series continues with Six Striking Swords and Six Swords Unbound, the two of which should be played in tandem.

Best box text ever! When the (REDCATED BBEG) appears and (REDACTED) to the (REDACTED), OMG.
. I literally had another DM play it again, so I could record it (with permission from the DM). Amazing.

I played in a session of this adventure on Roll20 last night. This was enjoyable and fun for my 5th level Arcane Archer.

Are Part 2 or 3 published yet? Just checking, as I have a Tier 2 party running Out of the Abyss and I'd love to run a 3 module series based on this one!

Great module, btw!

Hi Mark, the other two parts will be available sometime before the end of this weekend. I'm just finalizing work on some of the graphic elements!

Ran this last night and it was amazing. The group absolutely had their minds made up by the end about who they wanted to help. Can't wait for parts 2 and 3! My group has some very unfinished business to attend to with a certain fiend.

Hi Andrew, I really appreciated how you laid everything out cleanly (the flow chart, battle tactics, NPC list/recap, etc). I did have a bit of confusion with Map 3a (LR1), which shows the whispering Pool, but this is discovered/detailed in L2- meaning it should be on Map 3b. Thanks for this fun module!

I have run it twice so far and have had fun both times. As did my players most of whom are DMs.

What con did it originate from?

Glad you liked it! It premiered at Phantasm which has a been long running con in Ontario, Canada (I believe it's currently on Hiatus, though this has no bearing on the follow-up adventures which will premiere elsewhere.)

Ran this module last night for group of 6, and they all loved it. Went a lot longer than 4 hours, but I tend to do heavy descriptions during battle, and it's a group that does a lot of role play. REALLY interested in the next 2 modules. Any chance there will be overlap with next season of AL?

Hi Raymond, thanks for the comment - glad you had fun, I think it does lend itself to a lot of fun options for battle descriptions if that's your style!

The next two are done and just undergoing testing and tweaking. If all goes according to plan, should premiere in late October and be out before year end. There are no direct ties to season 8, but a creative DM can always find ways. I'm hoping to flesh out the Underdark area where these particular Drow are from a bit more, which might be helpful to such DMs.

Hey, I know there are no connections to season 8. but could you add in an optional reward set for season 8? maybe put in more consumables? add in some neat unlocks maybe?

Hi Nick, I would love to, however, as this is an AL approved adventure, changing rewards is not something that the authors can do. We do have the option of re-writing the entire adventure in the s8 format, however, it's not something I am currently considering. Both due to the workload as well as to some of the restrictions of the new format not being a good fit for this particular adventure. If the opportunity to simply add objectives and different rewards comes up one day, I'll definitely do so.

Fantastic module! Ran this today, and everyone loved it.
The characters are compelling, and the need to choose sides really engaged the players.
Can’t wait for parts 2 & 3!
Have my money, Andrew. Just have it.

Enjoyed running this and I just wrote a review. I did have a couple questions:
1. What's up with the ettin stat block and XP reward? I didn't see this monster mentioned anywhere else in the module.
2. In 4b the spined devils take off to battle Axcelia and they are referenced as "out of the fight". But at the same they are referenced as part of Lemetha's tactics against the party. So are there 4 spined devils? That's how I played it.

Hi John, thanks for review and feedback!

1. Hah! That's a good catch. In the very first draft of the module, the weak adjustment for the Troll encounter was to replace them with Ettins. During playtesting, the trolls were found to be weak enough even for a weak party, so I ended up simplifying the encounter. I guess the stat block stayed, I'll take it out at next revision. Thanks for pointing it out.

2. Yes, there are 4, 2 are out of fight, 2 remain for the party. You played it as intended. I'll see if there is a clearer way to word this.

Glad you enjoyed the adventure and that it's inspiring debates at the table!

Just ran this last night. I have to say, this module is worth $5. Not only is it well written with plenty of prep work done to allow multiple endings, but it plays really well. The end fight is really cool with a treasure that is more than worth it. My players were constantly trying to figure out who's side to be on. Between cunning npcs, a deadly roleplay encounter, and a wicked magical battle, the creator deserves way more than my $5 measly dollars.

Thanks for your interest! The next two parts will be coming out together and are closely related to each other. The second is already written and the third will be done and ready for playtesting by July. The plan is to have them out near the end of the year, but some things are outside my control and may impact the timelines. They are definitely intended to be played separately from this first one. For lack of a better comparison, this adventure relates to the other two similarly to how the Hobbit novel relates to the LotR trilogy. The three are less of a trilogy and more of a stand-alone plus a duology.

Ahhh, excellent! That was my main concern, running this without an immediate followup as it referenced characters reappearing in the future, but if that's the intent then I'll be running it tonight! Thanks!

I purchased this because I've played with the author, as well had him as DM for an Underdark adventure (DDEX 3-13, both highly recommended). I'm looking forward to running it.

I was actually surprised at how good this mod is. like an entertaining Teleplay from the 60's (read some of Rod Serling's stuff...it is amazing.) it follows a great story with plenty of opportunity to fight, roleplay and investigate.

I will rate it formally after running it, but for now, based on reading it, well worth your $5.00

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
