Did anyone go ahead and fix this for Unity or we are waiting for Unity release? I understand that unity is changing a lot, so just asking so I can use it. If not, not a big deal, I can wait.

Wasn't aware there were Unity issues, but yes it would not be fixed until release.

There is an error message when you load module, it was stated down below, was just checking. Not a problem, will wait till release.

Attempting to load this module in Fantasy Grounds Unity produces an error:

Rob & Brian,

I discovered this same problem, I heard that in the move from FGC to FGU the XML parser got a lot more strict (only because FGC played loose with the rules). I went ahead and put the "db.xml" file into a parser and it returned a few errors, all of which were & symbols in strings. There's probably a more elegant solution, but I simply removed the ampersands and then re-zipped the .mod file and it appears to be working. I'm so far able to actually load the module, and everything has been working without any errors.

Cool. ThanX Brennan. I'm sure when Unity makes FINAL RELEASE, we may have to make some adjustments on things to tweak it, but for now, in beta, it's a waste to fix things when they're just going to change it again tomorrow. lol Glad you found a workaround tho.

Rob,

The problem so far as I understand it isn't really related to FGU, it's more that they are using a standard XML parser as a part of the unity engine as opposed to their own parser in their own engine. The old xml parser was much more lax on what it would ignore and allow. They were talking about this issue on a dev stream and how they had to fix the XML on all of their official content because of the same problem.

The changes that I made just fix errors that any standard XML parser throws when loading '&' symbols in strings (I assume because it thinks you are trying to execute code in a string). If you ran your .xml files through a standard XML validator/parser you should be able to future proof all of your content. I used https://codebeautify.org/xmlvalidator but any should work. Also to be clear, I own a bunch of your Fantasy grounds content, and this is the only one I've had any issue with, everything else has been good to go. That said I totally agree that you can't worry...See more

Timothy,

This book was done in the original Black & White style (purposefully) to give the feeling from 1st edition even though it is 5th edition.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
