THE FOURTH ADVENTURE IN THE TENETS OF BANE SERIES

A priestess of Torm needs adventurers to travel to Thentia with three platinum discs that once belonged to a trio of Banite fanatics. From there, the items are bound for Elturgard, where they can finally be destroyed. It seems like a simple task, but followers of Bane also seek the discs. Can you see your cargo safely to its destination and rid the Moonsea of its ill influence, or will Bane’s followers successfully reclaim what they believe is their rightful property?

A 4-hour adventure for 1st-4th level characters

Each adventure in the Tenets of Bane series was written for the 2018 Winter War gaming convention in Champaign-Urbana, IL. For more information on Winter War, visit winterwar.org.

  • Official Adventurers League magic item certificate
  • Printable color battle maps for all encounters in PDF format

The Black Hand is Part 4 of the Tenets of Bane series. Playing the other 3 parts in not necessary and the sidebars at the beginning contain info on the deities Bane and Torm.

Part 1 starts with some brief role play at a temple to Torm. The temple’s overseer, Malana Homwell, asks them to deliver three items known as the Tenets of Bane to a paladin of Torm in Thentia. During the trip, hobgoblins hired by a sect of Bane known as the Black Hand ambush the characters and attempt to steal their cargo. Upon reaching Thentia, the party realizes they were a decoy.

In Part 2, the party must stage a rescue of Malana Homwell. There module lists multiple ways the players can attempt this. The party learns from Malana that the real Tenets are stashed aboard a ship and they must race to the docks to retrieve them.

how come none of these four adventures has an individual synopsis of what happens during it? like "WWC-01 the players go to a cave to fight goblins that may have the plates" or something MORE?

I'm not sure what you are asking. The adventures follow the same layout as other AL adventures written at the time. Are you talking about the adventure’s description on the DMs Guild? If so, putting too much information there could create spoilers.

Just chiming in again. I ran this adventure, and enjoyed it immensely. It ended up being the perfect length, and an amazing capstone to the series. I felt a little bit bad about deceiving the group (both in character, and out), but it ended up working out really well. Kudos!!

Question about running the Fight Club portion as a stand alone AL legal module. Is that fair to do for a 1 hour or 2 hour piece? Some players worry about potion farming and all that.

I’ve never seen any guidance from the AL admins on running just part of a CCC adventure as a legal session, so the answer is probably no. That said, what you are doing sounds like great fun, and if it were happening at my local game store, I would participate, regardless of the rewards!

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
