Fantastic! I hadn't read more than a dozen pages before I found something I can use right away in my own game! Went out and got "The Book of Dragons: Volume II" right away! Tells you what I think of it, doesn't it? Can't wait until I have enough cash to get the Fantasy Grounds editions!

Just got this, great and loving it, would you consider making a third with something like 'expanded lair actions', 'expanded regional effects', 'mythic actions' for each of the bois? Maybe a table for what could be randomly found in a dragoon's hoard, or a randomization for the rough value of a dragoon's hoard (assumedly multiplied by age category) (I dunno what exactly the second book goes into *yet*)

Maybe updated statblock for Tiamat, and a statblock for Bahamut and Sardior. (Mythics would be neat to see)

Any chance you would consider 'expanding' the artifact tomes?

Hello! I like your book very much, it’s Like a Draconomicon for 5E. But the dragons of any color almost the same in combat: just DC, AC and breath type varies. It’s no fun to do more than one battle with them in dragon campaign. I think they needs some different spell-like abilities like 3.5th dragons had have. And few lair actions looks great too. Hmmm. “jump to crush move” from 3.5 is also interesting. Maybe it will suit

Oh, I see. Lair actions wrote for new dragons only, so I suppose it means to look into MM. It is a little difficult to use two books simultaneously for classic dragons, but maybe I will.

Now, after careful reading, I found this book very good. Especially feats section, which helps with dragon customization. Now all my dragons is unique. Thank you for such great work!

Sorry if this was already asked, but are there plans to release these as hardcover versions?
Because I realy prefer physical copies over pdfs if possible.

Also, would it be possible to tell me what dragon species are included in these?
Just the ones that are in the Monster Manual + the mentioned new ones, or also ones like Steel, Gem, Astral and Asian Dragons?
Sorry for bothering.

The blue dragons are supposed to be lawful evil and not chaotic evil right?

Absolutely love this, I can always use more dragons :-) I'm wondering about the reach for the attacks. Are they based more on age than actual size? So a Mature adult green dragon is slightly bigger than an Adult green dragon (but still within the huge category) and therefore has a slightly longer tail?

I take it the claw attack of the Elder Black Dragon should have a 5 ft reach and not 10 ft to fit in with the rest? And should the gargantuan sized versions of the black dragon have a claw reach of 10 (since all the other chromatics seem to have that)?

Hey Pia,

Yes, you would be correct on all three accounts! Thanks for pointing these out (I did all of my own editing and didn't catch everything), I'll be sure to correct them in the next edition!

This i by far one of the greatest purchases I have ever made. Already had lots of fun with it. I was wondering if there was anyone who had taken the time to create a customized character sheet for the dragon-bounds dragon =)?

This book along with its sequel is a true necessity for anyone wishing to use dragons in their games. While I appreciate not having half of a monster manual dedicated to dragons there was a need for an official 5th edition dracononomicon that these two books more than fulfill. Excellent

I really like the book. I have been thinking about doing something like this but if I wrote out the charts, it wouldn't be compatible with 5E RAW. You did a good job keeping with the MM progression.

Dragons in 5E are a little weak in my opinion. A seasoned group of adventurers should soil themselves when coming face to face with an old dragon. It should take an army to face a great wyrm. This gives me a good starting point to build charts. I showed it to one of the DM's that I have taught and he likes it. My big problem with 5E dragons is their AC. A 20th level Barb shouldn't be able to roll an 11 and hit a great wyrm (before gear and special abilities), and the barbarian has an AC of 24 when using a shield.

Hi, Robert!

I completely agree! That was pretty much the premise for even writing the thing ("adventurers should soil themselves when coming face to face with an old dragon"). I'm glad you like it!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
