Cavern of the Violator

ADD TO WISHLIST >

When local farmer Jonas Cappa goes missing while hunting mushrooms and then reappears, hours later, naked and without any of his belongings, his wife goes to the party to investigate. Jonas claims to have fallen into a hole in the ground, but none can be found. What really happened to him and can it be stopped before things get worse?

(Spoiler: they are probably going to get worse).

A one-shot adventure for characters of levels 1-4 designed to be dropped into any campaign, inspired by the X-Files (but firmly D&D).

Very well conceived situation and plot. Nicely creepy opening, an interesting and unusual mystery, then a reversal in the middle that will stretch the PCs out of their comfort zone and made us as players, when I played this adventure, have to think an [...]

Our regular group had so much fun with this one-shot on a night when our regular DM couldn't make it for our ongoing campaign. It's rare for an adventure--let alone a one-shot--to include a twist that both feels organic to the story AND actually surpri [...]

I played this one-off adventure recently and had a blast! It's hard to describe without spoiling it, but there are enough surprises and cool twists that makes me rank this module as one of my favorites. This one will stick with me for a while. [...]

This adventure was simply amazing, and so well layed out. I grasped the whole of it in the first few pages and the rest went into detail that managed to avoid any bloat while feeling full of life. I really wish Rajan had made more - or that people coul [...]

Most one-shots end up being two-shots with my play groups, but this is a compact story that has action, roleplay, basically everything you want from an adventure. The PDF is the same quality as the ones WotC publishes, stylish with art, proper formatti [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
