Not a problem - I think by definition all questions are ignorant... after all, if you already knew the answer you wouldn't need to ask. For this product, the maps are very much focused on VTT use. For printing, you'd want something in the 300 DPI range, where these are about 72 DPI, so they'd look pretty crummy printed out.

Happy with the purchase, but a quick question please.

Any chance you have an updated hex-crawl map for The Great Southern Swamp (pg #17 of original module)? That map is really what I was hoping to get for my upcoming Roll20 game.

Hi Mike. Sure thing. I've updated the product file with some maps of The Great Southern Swamp. Hopefully you got a notification that a new file was available for download. Let me know if you need anything else.

Hi Okey. There are a few things that could be going on here. First, Roll20 has two file-size limits which depend on your subscription. If you're using a free subscription, the limit if 5MB, otherwise it's 10MB. So it could be that your free subscription is causing the problem. In this product, any map larger than 10MB is provided in a "chopped up" version with multiple files each below 10MB, but if you need the files to be below 5MB, you'd need to chop them up even further. The other possibility is that you're trying to load the full maps (i.e. not the chopped-up files), which in many cases are too large for Roll20.

There's a pretty good web site (https://resizeimage.net/) that you can use to crop images if you do need to chop the maps up more to get under a 5MB file-size limit. Keep in mind that a free Roll20 account has a 100MB storage limit (versus 3GB for a paid account), so if that's the problem you're going to run into issues with lack of storage space pretty quickly. You might be...See more

Im getting ready to run this in Roll 20. What size do I need to make the maps in Roll20 so that they line up properly?

Thanks

Hi Bruce. Here are the dimensions of each map in 5' squares (WxH):
Map 1: 12x26
Map 2: 26x92
Map 3: 82x56
Map 4: 44x66
Map 5: 48x68
Map 6: 44x72
Map 7: 34x42

Of course, in Roll20 you might want to make the maps 1 or 2 squares larger in every direction so you have some extra space to drag tokens to and from or whatever.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
