The sages of Candlekeep have come calling. They’ve come to Port Nyanzaru on the trail of a colleague. He came to the jungle to pursue his studies in solitude some twenty years ago, but within the last year, his regular communications have fallen silent. They are in search of brave (and discrete) adventurers to escort them around the peninsula for a health and welfare check. Are you brave and discrete enough for the job?

Before I run this (for a non-AL home game), something I'm trying to work out: Is the "Verse vs. Verses" story award relevant to anything else? I've picked up some of the other AL modules for the Tomb Of Annihilation season, and don't see it come up again anywhere. Unless it is used again, I'm inclined to drop it. (Which might be a good update in general, if this never got followed up?!?)

Answer to my own question. It was difficult for me to piece together, so, in case this helps others (no spoilers):

The Verses vs. Verses story award goes together with something on page 8 of DDAL07-11, "A Lesson In Love."

Together, they give a clue to access "The Extra Hidden Chamber" on page 10 of DDAL07-14, "Fathomless Pits Of Ill Intent."

Unless it has been corrected, DDAL07-14 contains a typo saying the clue is in DDAL07-12 instead of DDAL07-11.

Scribbly reviews: DDAL07-13 old bones and older tomes
A little bit of a mess, but also great fun as we have wizards looking for wizards and wizard towers. Okay so someone stole ancient tomes and wants to become a lich. But with no further plans to destroy the world or raise Dundar like the rest of 07 T3, This is just wizards being wizards. And Liches be crazy.
For DM's the puzzles and mechanics of the tower itself will take a few read throughs, but after that, it's a great location to be in. With just a little bit of stress to keep those players in line.
This mod is a good all around adventure, I'd recommend it for everyone.

Characters:
Octavious and Augustus are so fun to have around the group. Always bickering cartoonishly as only the best of friends can do. Perfect wizards paying attention to only the most insignificant details while ignoring important things like imminent death and monsters.
Crannaston may be a villainous wizard evening for more power then anyone...See more

I've got a rules question for the author, or anyone else who'd like to chime in. It involves spoilers, so beware.

From page 14: "Xochimitl teleports into the midst of the group. She exploits truesight to do as much damage as possible..."
The adventurers are in the middle of a Fog Cloud. The text suggests that Xochimitl gets to ignore Fog Cloud thanks to truesight, but I was under the impression that truesight is foiled by physical/non-illusion obscurements like fog.

I've linked Jeremy Crawford's ruling on the matter here: https://www.sageadvice.eu/2016/04/06/does-truesight-sees-through-physical-things/

Anyone care to chime in? Thanks in advance.

Might I recommend this? https://www.sageadvice.eu/2018/07/22/golden-rule-75/

Personally I would treat it as blind sight instead of truesight, and while I would actually need to read more into what Xochimitl is (I.E. buy the thing) it seems like a good buy so hey.

Ran it last night. A lot of fun, but had two small issues. The first was my fault, I thought the items the party needed were in the room where you find out about them, not in the farther room (trying to be spoiler free about that), which made things easier. Also, I'm not a huge fan of puzzles that rely on my player's ability as opposed to their character's abilities. Otherwise, an interesting adventure with some good combat.

Just ran it today. I had an extremely strong party, I think that a the final fight needs to have options to make the boss harder. But it was a great puzzler for the characters who legitimately sat and figured out each puzzle.

As said in my review, I believe that a good modification to the adventure would be to make it so that the corrupted emotions stop attacking their related character if they vanquish their flaw. What are your thoughts on this ?

I like it. It would make the encounter move along faster as well. Nice suggestion and a great candidate for an update change.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
