I want to buy this, but frankly with the physical copy NOT being updated to fix the errors I just can't. Especially since the last comments on the errors was made over 3 years ago and nothing has been done to fix them. Frankly, I don't care if it was fixed on the PDF, though your site here says nothing was fixed since original publishing, so I guess I will have to keep my money.

Great piece of work! Quick question though, since it is available for Fantasy Grounds, I was wondering if you are thinking of publishing it as a FoundryVTT compendium?

Question: why is the Death Golem only cr 15? It's stats and abilities are on pare with the Iron Golem cr 16. Plus it's shield guardian abilities it really should be a cr16 at least. The Death Golem also has slightly better mental ability scores so it really ought to be cr 16, maybe 17.

That's a great catch. CR17 sounds good. Although I can not say whether the product will get revisions based on errors found by the community that were not caught by our team. I worked on this product several years ago, and it was my first time creating monsters using CR and I admit I didn't fully grasp the concept because in my experience, CR doesn't seem to be very accurate anyways other than telling you how much XP the monster is worth.

Looking at my initial version of the Death Golem, the CR was supposed to be 16, but somehow ended up as 15 in the final version. I agree with making it 17, which would raise the Perception skill to +6 and passive Perception to 16. Everything else remains the same.

Add this to it as well. It's what the initial concept had because it was supposed to be a necromantic inspired amalgamation of the Shield Guardian and the Iron Golem. Over the course of the project, perhaps the editors made unintentional alterations or accidentally left things out.

Reactions
Shield. When a creature makes an attack against the wearer of the golem's amulet, the golem grants a +2 bonus to the wearer's AC if the golem is within 5 feet of the wearer.

Hi! I ordered the hard cover copy a month ago. Received confirmation of the shipment the 16th may and didn't receive it yet. How much time should I expect for a delivery in Belgium?
Thanks

This sounds odd :( Definitely get in contact with OBS/DMsGuild about it. Email their customer support and ask if they can help you track where it is.

Hope you get it soon dude!

Sounds nice. Perhaps if you thoroughly proofread for errors and ensure its decently playtested and balanced ill give it a buy, but it seems a bunch of errors have already been discovered.
And alphesorting with the word 'the'? Nope. I couldnt handle that.

It is nice Christopher! :D It's great book, and none of the little 'niggles' (not a bunch of errors) have proven to make the enjoyment of this product any less.

We are all very proud of what we accomplished here, together.

Thanks for your time.

Sounds nice, Christopher S. Perhaps if you thoroughly proofread your comment for errors and ensured you used actual words I'd take it seriously. But it seems a bunch of errors have already been discovered. Like typing "alphesorting" which isn't even a word. Nope. I couldn't handle that.

Cool. Maybe whine and complain when my reasonable comment costs you 15 dollars to read.
Perhaps whine and complain harder when you pay much more for a hard cover copy of my comment.

Just double checking: are these all new monsters? Or are they monsters featured elsewhere in the DMsGuild site. Such as Marc Altfuldisch's Monsters of the Orient, which I own. Always love having new monsters, but I'd hate to double up on stuff I already own!

Hi Dennis, no, not all the monsters here are exclusive to this product. Of the 120 monsters 43 make their debuts here in MotG!

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply! I own a lot of stuff from here so I likely have most of those monsters. However, 43 new ones is still a decent amount!

A few questions

1. Can the Kobold Poison Fanatic be found in hills? (P. 155)
2. Are the Tu'Gok and the Tyrannosaurus Chamaeleonidae dinosaurs? (P. 144-145)

and the Kobold Poison Fanatic is listed as a Small Kobold. I believe it should be listed as Small Humanoid (kobold) (P. 82)

Hi Kevin!

1. I don't see why not!
2. They are, and also defined as huge beasts in this product.

Hahaha! That's a hilarious mistake, 'small kobold'. That will be fixed next time we release an update :)

Thanks for your time Kevin.

This book is beautiful! I have the hard cover copy and it's a joy to read through. I love all the monsters, and there are some amazing gems I can't wait to use in here!

Also I love the community aspect of it; seeing all the dungeon master's faces at the front gives the book a warm, homely feeling which I think is needed more on the Guild.

Highly recommended purchase!

I love many of the creatures in this book, as well as the accompanying art and layout. Nice job by everyone involved! The images on page 5 were a really nice touch, too.
Minor editing issues:
- "The" in front of a name should probably be dropped (or at least, not considered) when putting the creatures in alphabetical order.
- Page 138: "False Appearance" in stat block says red, "Hooded Color" under text says "don't have a preferred color".
- Page 156: the first creature under "Mountain Monsters" actually has a CR of 4, not 1/4.

Being the creator of The Hood on p138, the entry is correct. Although the color listed is red, it relates to the adventure it came from (Red Ridings Hood from Grimm Encounters). The Hood can, in your world, have any color you choose.

Alexander, we have the Fantasy Grounds version of course, but DMs Guild does not have an agreement with Roll20 so at this time we wouldn't be able to do that. I do know though that some people purchase the FG version and then break open the zip file and use the graphics for Roll20, which is not ideal, but people do it. But in the case of our great product, there wouldn't be any maps, but you would have monster images and tokens.

FYI, if you are a Mac user, be sure to open up your PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader rather than Preview. For some bizarre reason we can't quite figure out yet, some of the images are fuzzy in Preview. Fortunately, they are crystal clear in Reader and other PDF viewers - and thankfully in the proofs for the print version! It's not unprecedented, as I've had trouble with a couple of my official D&D PDFs in Preview, seems to be an issue the reader is having reading the PDF image layers.
Now to kick back with Acrobat, and enjoy a relaxed and thorough read-through of MotG in its full intended glory! Review to follow in a day or two...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
