Day the First....As the Morning Lord bids me so do I follow. The Abbey of St. Markovia in Krezk has lo these many years lain desolate by the evil Strahd, who by his own hand, slayed the blessed Saint who gave the Abbey its name and hallowed its ground. I will restore it to its previous glory and purpose. A place of healing and hope. To do this I must win the villagers’ trust. They cower in fear in the village over which the Abbey looms. SO fearful are they of Strahd and his wolves that they dare not venture beyond the village walls. The walls of mist might just as well be made of brick and mortar as it imprisons them thusly.

Ninth Day of the Eighth Month the Fifteenth Year........Their idea of what perfection means does not match mine. They have strange ideas of what it means to be human. They beg me to give them the eyes of a cat, wings to fly, the strength of a mule, the guile of a snake... I pity them. I am sure their desire for bestial traits cannot lead to salvation. But if it persuades them to follow, then let it be so. I will yield to these mad desires, and hope it helps.

Fourteenth Day of the Sixth Month the Sixty-Sixth Year..........There is more to this monster than meets the eye. At supper tonight Strahd unburdened himself, and lamented the curse that has followed him through the centuries. He wants nothing more than to escape Barovia. Despite myself I feel the pangs of sympathy and the urge to help him find release, and peace. I have taken it upon myself to find a cure for his malaise and set him free of this torment.

Didn't realize that this was designed for print only. Is there a PDF with sequentially numbered pages for those of us running their games online?

I would like to translate for my group. How can I do it? With InDesign? Which fonts did you use?

Any chance we could get a reformatted version of this like how the tome of strahd was done?

I'm so disappointed in this. I just bought these because you said it could be printed and folded, but it doesn't work that way at all. When printed either 1 or 2 sided, it jumps around instead of the pages being presented in order. Or jumps around AND has a ton of blank pages.

Hello! The printing is tricky but absolutely possible. It should be printed single-sided. The "cover" page should be folded so the back of the pages touch. Every other page should be folded so the ink/print/art side of the pages touch, and then THEY should be inserted into the cover page like filling a taco.

I know it's a little confusing but i hope this can help your disappointment. Please continue to let me know if you have issues. I'm certainly not perfect but I hope you can print this well and use it for your group!

I've tried printing this several times, double-sided flipping long edge, short edge... nothing works, the entries are always out of order

I had to slice up each page in photoshop and then rebuild it to be able to print it as a double sided blooklet.

That done, it looks quite nice.

In case anyone else reads this comment chain and gets worried this won't print well (like I did), it prints absolutely great, as-is. I'm not sure what the above posters had a problem with, but I printed it out, folded it as the creator explained in his reply (three years ago), lightly glued all the blank faces together, then sanded the edges for a worn look. Took all of 30 minutes, it looks fantastic, and it's far sturdier than the double-sided version the people above me are asking for would be. This was absolutely worth a dollar. Here's a photo so you can see what my printed out version looks like: https://i.imgur.com/wsCVP9h.jpg

Neil, gluing blank pages together sounds like a terrible outcome.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
