Tavern Brawl Builder

"Really, this is a stroke of genius. Jean has taken the oldest cliche in the book - the tavern, and the inevitable brawl therein - and turned it into absolute unadulterated, unfettered D&D fun"--Tony Petrecca, author of multiple best-selling titles on the DMs Guild (like Amazing Adventures).  Review here.

"Frankly, this is a work of genius. The idea of turning a barroom brawl into a monster in its own right is brilliant, and the system for running encounters against it is inspired. I'm going to be running a lot more games in taverns from now on..."--Chris Bissette, creator of ENnie-nominated RPG website Loot the Room.  Review here.

Breathe new life into D&D's oldest trope: the tavern brawl.

This supplement is jam-packed with imaginative locations, stories, NPCs and encounters, all centered around the mainstay of civilized Faerun-ian life: the tavern.  More than just mindless slugfests, these brawls and taverns have been designed to be "story-first"!

Your tabletop will have many sessions of fun and exciting investigation and problem-solving, all while punching commoners in the face.

Inside these pages, you'll find a tavern with frog-survival gambling, an enchanter who just can't keep it to himself, a stair-sliding sorceror baby, and much, much more.

Overall, there are 10 unusual taverns, 10 brawl encounters and 10 mid-brawl complications.  Mix-and-match these elements for 1000 unique brawls!  And sprinkled throughout are numerous adventure seeds and story hooks for future sessions.

And while you're here, have a look at some of my other work on the DMs Guild:

Unstuck Encounters II (COPPER Bestseller).  When your PCs just aren't getting your clues, use these short encounters as a way to reveal needed information in a fun, weird or (sometimes) low-cost way.  A kenku who trades sounds for secrets, a hill giant with important maps in his belly, a mimic who…well you’ll just have to find out.

Volo's Lost Encounters (SILVER Bestseller).  A series of encounters inspired by Volo's Guide to Monsters.

Unstuck Encounters (SILVER Bestseller).  Short scenarios for when your PCs just can't figure it out.

Introducing simple mechanics to treat a tavern brawl as a creature, (think swarm of drunks) Jean has turned the chaos of a brawl into a blast of fun that's as streamlined as the rest of DnD5e. Pick it up and start a fight today! [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
