Testimonial:

esmdev says,

"I take Rob's class effects module and make it player accessible in my campaign. One of my players is running a rogue and has sneak attack, he drags the sneak attack option to the action tab of his character sheet (he also changes the spells category to class, not needed but good for organization). Whenever he has the option for a sneak attack he clicks the sneak attack option which applies an effect to his character in the combat tracker that will fire automatically if he hits. He swings (for this example hitting) and then rolls his weapon damage and at that point to effect triggers adding the extra sneak attack die to the damage roll. The effect then drops of the combat tracker.

Before we got class effects (and a bunch of others) we had to either figure out what modifications were needed and do them manually or code the effects ourselves. I cannot tell you how much time/effort these effects bundles saved us.

By itself, the 5E ruleset on FG provides some basic level of automation but still requires quite a bit of DM / Player intervention. Especially given that a lot of people have their own way of doing things, house rules, etc., it's actually a little better that way. However, some of the more things that are automated the better (IMHO) and Rob's stuff really helps. Beyond just helping in the automation side of things, It has helped me to figure out how to set up effects myself, so I highly recommend them if you are running 5E. For instance, take the potion of healing provided with the 5E DMG. It is simply an inventory item and doesn't actually do anything by itself. Take the potion of healing from FG Coding Package (ITEMS) potions module and drag it into actions and it has the pre-coded effects to allow you to click it and self-cast healing on yourself. It saves time by already being coded to do it so you don't have too. Most of my players can program simple scripts but deciphering the effects system can be complex in the middle of a game so it's better to just have it already done.

I recommend the Fantasy Grounds Coding Package and the Fantasy Grounds Coding Package (ITEMS), these really speed up gameplay. Als,o I recommend that you check out the bundles before you buy anything because sometimes in the long run you might save a ton of money by looking before leaping as you might see a bunch of things in the bundle that are of interest but purchased separately would be considerably more expensive."

Hey - I am new to FG, and I was just wondering - do these duplicate some of the functionality if you buy, say, the DMG for Fantasy Grounds, and so, wouldn't the example you use in the youtube video (the ring of protection) already be in the list of items, and then able to drag and drop onto a character sheet? The products look interesting, but I guess I'm not sure what purpose they serve if I already bought all the books. Aren't all those magic items (and spells, etc) already coded into Fantasy Grounds when you buy them? Thanks!

All of the FG modules (PHB, DMG, etc., etc.) have the items, spells, feats, etc. but they are not necessarily fully coded for the Combat Tracker. Enter Rob Twohy...

I just ran my first session with Rob's wonderful products and it couldn't have gone better. My party couldn't believe how incredibly easy it was to play, buy they thought the game was just built like that. I informed them that a great deal of work went into making everything so automated and smooth - just not by me. Rob, I'm so grateful that you make these coding packages. They are invaluable, and I will eagerly purchase everything you make for 5e as I view it as 100% essential for making Fantasy Grounds so intuitive and easy. Bravo!

I bought this and the coding 4 pack. FYI: Dragging over Wands of MM, fireball, lightning only show uses not effect. Is this intentional?
Thanks for making my life easier.

Trying to cobble up a way to get items working into the actions tab has never worked well for me, Rob's items package (pun not intended) resolves this by adding effects to the spells list of Fantasy Grounds now your ring of earth elemental command is as easy to access as fire bolt

Hello can i use this package with Pathfinder too ?
Customer avatar
Rob T April 24, 2018 8:41 pm UTC
CREATOR
Markus, unfortunately, these codes will not work with Pathfinder. Even if there were codes for Pathfinder, they would of course not be sold on the DMs Guild which is expressly for 5E material only.

What would be the be the easiest way to add the PHB, DMG, etc. To the module so I can use in my local campaigns without having to redo the info for each new campaign or will it save the info through out every campaign I load it in? And what would be the best option to buy all of your product. There is so much it's hard to tell what packages to get and what they might be missing. Thanks in advance.

Najee, I'm not clear on what you are asking in the first part of your question. As far as what to acquire, I have over 60 items on the DMs Guild... It really depends on what you are looking for. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you decide.

Very helpful Rob! Thanks for the work you put into them. While setting them up I noticed the dwarven thrower has an IFT command to add damage if ranged but the Shield of Missile attraction only has resist:all even though it only provides resistance to missiles. Wouldn't that require an IFT as well?
Customer avatar
Rob T February 02, 2018 8:01 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi. ThanX! The answer is no because IFT is for attacks as opposed to taking damage. The setting should be next ROLL, not next ACTION though. The reason is, only ranged damage is resisted, not melee. So you would need to apply it to each ranged damage OR apply it always but take it off when melee damage is done. Unfortunately (at this point) FG does not allow the [range] designator with the RESIST function. I will update that today.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
