Lady Wachter is dead. Undead undead undead undead!

This adventure continues the storyline of the CULT in VALLAKI from the Curse of Strahd campaign, but can fit easily into any setting.

• 9 page Cult of The Blackness mansion guide, including DM maps, monster stats, and story suggestions

• High Resolution Mansion Maps suitable for printing

• Web-Ready Mansion Maps suitable for Roll20, etc

• a helpful Printing Guide

So your players have slaughtered Lady Wachter. Maybe they even cut off her head. Mine did. Sure, the jokers in her basement weren’t the real deal but this add-on supposes...maybe the cult is real and the people in her basement were recruits. Your players are thirsty to hunt out and eradicate her dangerous cult. Slake that thirst. This supplement provides all a devious DM needs.

What is killed in Barovia may not stay dead for long. The Dark Powers have resurrected Lady Wachter as a Ghast so she can continue her dark work, including sacrificing innocent Vallakians to The Blackness, while preparing an army of undead to take revenge on Vallaki, all in her twisted devotion to Strahd. With this full Mansion map, you are encouraged to:

• Add this decrepit mansion & ballroom somewhere in Vallaki (somewhere they haven’t explored)

• After Wachter is killed, have the cult start to burn buildings and kidnap townsfolk

• Lead your players to the mansion by having good or bad NPCs drop hints

• Describe Lady Wachter’s ghast corpse as having the wounds the PCs inflicted, even if burned to ash Features:

• Full color maps for Roll20 or printouts

• Eloquent descriptions of every room, along with DM notes (in italics)

• Suggestions of room occupants customizable by the DM

• Fully printable instructions including monster/enemy stat sheets

The rubes in the Wachterhaus basement being thrown coins by Majesto are just recruits. The real cult is headquartered in an old abandoned mansion in a secluded part of Vallaki. Lady Wachter and her cult sacrifice a slow stream of townsfolk to a hideous Black Pudding that lives in the ballroom attic. This can act as a callback to the Death House introduction about sacrifices in Barovia. Once per season, the cult would abduct and sacrifice a Vallakian to The Blackness. After the death of Lady Wachter at the hands of the PCs, the cult is in a frenzy. They have already abducted and sacrificed several townsfolk to try to curry the favor of the Dark Powers. They also begin burning buildings. These are all hooks to lure your PCs to investige the reality of Wachter’s cult, and bring them to the mansion. Perhaps a townsmember saw a cultist light a fire, or abduct someone. Perhaps the PCs themselves witness it. Because of the cult’s vicious tributes, and Lady Wachter’s pacts with the Dark Powers of Barovia, Lady Wachter has been brought back to un-life as a (modified) Ghast. No longer content with political power, she has returned to lead her followers to the total annihilation of Vallaki as a present to Strahd. They are about to sacrifice another villager when the PCs attack/enter/surveil/light-fire-to the mansion. As if that weren‘t enough, before her death, Lady Wachter had been creating zombies, herded into the attic, to eventually unleash on all of Vallaki; at the time to blame the Burgomaster’s incompetence to get him ousted. Now she simply wants death and destruction. This mansion quest is fully fleshed out but also leaves plenty of flexibility for customization for your specific game.

A little tedious sometimes with my six-player group jumping in and out of combat to handle one or two cultists per room, so I had to rearrange some things and modify initiative rules. But well worth it for the final fight. Though I wonder how anti-clim [...]

A beautiful adventure with useful resources that can easily be folded in to a Curse of Strahd campaign, or ran as a standalone with minor tweaks from the DM. Pick it up, and leave some change in the tip jar! [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
