Fantasy Grounds 5E Coding Package (ITEMS)

Do you play or DM Fantasy Grounds D&D 5E?

These codes are a companion piece to the previous coding modules I did for Spells, Feats, Class Features, and Race Traits.

This package delivers all of the coding effects for the items mentioned for the PC sheet Actions tab in drag and drop format! DMs viewing the combat tracker will always know the status on any item, where the effects are applied, and who the person was if it is concentration. No more stopping your game to code items. Drag, drop, KEEP PLAYING!

Included sources are Player's Handbook, Elemental Evil Companion, Sword Coast Adventurers Guide, Curse of Strahd, Volo's Guide to Monsters, and Xanathar's Guide to Everything. Fantasy Grounds coding done right.

This is the key for those symbols:

(60) - Range - this will be a range in feet 30, 60, 90, etc.

(S) - Self - sometimes listed with a corresponding range

(T) Touch

(C) Concentration

(B) Bonus Action

(R) Reaction

(RIT) Ritual

($) Component cost

This will be a great time saver for players and ESPECIALLY DMs!

Hi Rob,

Love your Tools, own them all. I'm having an issue with only one that doesn't seem to work? Item: Headband of Intellect. Is there something I need to do with the code? When I roll an intelligence check with the effect active it doesn't add the bonus to the roll?

Headband of Intellect; INTMNM: X; (edit X = 19 minus your current intelligence)

The problem is when it is set anytime a roll against you is made to attack it comes through at disadvantage. Amd it drops even if u r not hit. Such as if something makes an attack roll it goes away.

Ya so it's sort of complicated. Fantasy Grounds doesn't key on DAMAGE only on attacks, so this is the BEST WE CAN DO in the case of the Cloak of Displacement. The important part is that it gives the attacker disadvantage and then removes the effect. The alternative would be to leave the effect on all the time and then manually remove it when damaged. Between those two choices, I thought it best to have the player reapply it each time needed rather than to leave it on permanently and be wrong.

i am having issues with the cloak of displacement. Whenever i get attacked it drops. I thought it was coded to drop whenever you get hit till the next round. How much is up to the player.

Thomas. "...if you take damage the property ceases to function until the start of your next turn..." Fantasy Grounds can't interpret a function to disallow and then reallow anything, so it's working perfectly. Once you get hit, you need to reapply the effect at the start of your next turn.

One of my players is saying the belt of Giant Strength isn't working. It's quite possible we don't quite understand how to make it work. :) Can you let me know if we need to update anything or if it should just set the players strength.

Kimberly:

FG does not have the ability to modify ability scores directly from the Combat Tracker, so that has to be done manually. Therefore you are not doing it wrong, you just need to CHANGE the player's strength to 25 (and make a note of original strength in case they take the belt off).

The coding is just a NOTE really:

Belt of Fire Giant Strength; STR = 25; Note original STR

I must be doing something wrong. What source are we supposed to use for the items in order for the coding to take effect? I have the spells and class features working fine.

I'm not sure what you mean by "what source". All the codes are from the "SPELLS" list even though they are not spells, and you drag them onto the ACTIONS TAB. They all work the same. Hope that helps.

Then I can pre-buy the 9-pack (with placeholder Weapons) now and get the real Weapons as a file update? I'm sure many others would go for that with the knowledge that Weapon is coming in a "while". You have been doing this for a while an have street cred. ;-)

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
