Thank you for the update. Unfortunately my DM still can't seem to grasp how the hit-dice mechanics of Way of Atonement are actually supposed to work.
For the purposes of clarification, is the following correct:

Path of Atonement

Step 1: The monk rolls x hit dice (1d8 each) and adds his constiution modifier each time. He gains the total as hit points, up to his maximum.

Step 2: He rolls those x hit dice again, without adding his constitution modifier, and takes the total as damage.

Strength of Faith - "spending" your hit dice only reduces your hit dice number by 1, the dice isn't rolled or any modifiers applied.

Again, I'm really sorry for having to ask this again. It is perfectly clear to me, but not to my DM, apparently.

I'll notify the corresponding designer regarding that (and Craig's question below) to provide some clarification.

Should there be a range or "creature you can see" restriction on Hornet Ring? Just refers to "target creature", seems like a piece of info is missing.

Is it already out of print?
Customer avatar
Chuck W October 15, 2018 7:14 pm UTC
I've been checking it. I don't think it made it to print after the update.

I see. Because last week it was in print, and I thought that was after the update. Maybe Im mistaken.
I just really want this book in print :)

We're just waiting for the finalized proof to come in with all the updates. Once that's verified, we'll have it up for print again.

Is it AL legal?
Customer avatar
Colin P October 03, 2018 1:55 pm UTC
Per the Content Guide, "Only the adventure and Appendix A are legal for AL play. None of the character content is valid for AL play."

A question regarding Way of Atonement: When using your Path of Atonement feature, you essentially spent hit dice to do damage to yourself. Do you add your con modifier to that damage, as you would if you were healing yourself with those dice instead? Because, as I read it, you explicitly roll only the hit dice.

Also, is this supposed to mean that the cost any ki features can't be reduced below 1 ki point?

"After meditating in this way, your features that cost ki points cost 1 less ki point
per Hit Dice you rerolled in this way (minimum of 1)"

Any news on when we can get a physical copy?

The lead designer on this project is going through a final review to make sure everything is in order before we pull the switch on this. It may be another week, but he wants to make sure everything is in order and correct.

Any chance for the book to be available in dndbeyond as well?

I see it's no longer available as a print book. I assume that is because you are updating files? Then it will be back up for print? If yes I thank you and look forward to picking this up!

Two things:
I'm really looking forward to an update. I've read some reviews and even read over a pdf I grabbed from a quick google search to verify what the reviews were saying. There are some mistakes and the balance is a little heavy in a few situations. Since I want this book primarily for the character options, balance is important.

Don't get me wrong, I love this product. What you've created here is nothing short of remarkable in terms of production quality. The only thing lacking from my point of view is a hardcover option. It's a D&D book, on par with Wizards' own products, so I don't see why you wouldn't want to finish it off with a nice hard cover.

I'm clicking buy assuming the update fixes some of the issues.

After an unfortunate months long delay with deadlines and scheduling, we have our lead editor going through this product and making the necessary corrections. We plan on having them finished within the next week. Our team often has to juggle a lot of projects with strict timelines, so again, I want to thank everyone for their patience.

WELL that's fantastic! I hope it's also balancing? At least just a bit, there were a few things that I thought needed a twice over. Love the options btw.

I've gone over this supplement and found it to be very good with exciting material. I'm waiting for an updated version to be released before I spend the money on it though.
Two classes really intrigued me: The Mage hunter (would like to see this balanced more, seems under powered), and the Dragoon (Finally a useful equestrian adept fighter that can bring his mounted tactics into melee combat. Might benefit from a balancing pass as well).
If this was Fantasy Grounds enabled I would have already bought it.

No updates to the product since January.
Inexcusable for something with that price point and is available in a print version.
Apparently they've all moved on to other projects, so buyer (especially potential Print copy buyers) beware!

8 days since I asked the question and still no response from the creator, nearly 2 months since he has said anything at all... this does not inspire confidence in making a print purchase :(

Still waiting on some edits as well as hit with an unexpected family tragedy IRL, so I don't always see the notifications here. This is all timed with a lot of recent releases that have deadlines attached to them. It's not something I normally feel the need to explain, but I figure it would be best in this case. All I can say is that we're all working hard as we can with the time we're given. Thanks for everyone's patience thus far.

Hi, just received my print version and have given it a read-through. Great book, and love the print option, but I do have one question. Did you mean to imply, by wording and putting them under the Critical Failures section, that Ability Checks and Saving Throws can already critically/automatically fail as a result of a natural roll of 1 or that that was the proposed optional rule?

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
