This product is now Adventurers League legal. Its code is DDHC-TOA-12.

Ten new encounters in the jungle that can be added to any Tomb of Annihilation campaign! Combat, danger, intrigue, and heroics are all yours in this exciting supplement!

This supplement includes 10 new encounters, 7 new creatures, a Chult Jungle Chase Complications table, and more!

If you like this product, take a gander at Encounters in Port Nyanzaru.

This product uses monsters from Beasts of the Jungle Rot. The statistics are reprinted in this supplement, but if you like them, check out the other 30+ dinosaurs and zombies Beasts of the Jungle Rot has to offer.

Notes for AL play:

  • Chwinga Challenge. The chwinga don’t use their Magical Gift ability.
  • Jungle Chase. On a roll of 4 on the Chult Jungle Chase Complications table, only one character may attempt to persuade the chwinga to use its Magical Gift ability; the chwinga scampers off after the attempt—regardless of whether or not it’s successful.
  • Pyramid of the Moon. Any character that becomes a wandering spirit is removed from play.
  • The Weeping Grove. In lieu of a tree spirit weapon, the characters are gifted with a single +2 weapon (club, greatclub, quarterstaff, or maul) by the wilden. Whomever claims the item may choose its form, but once chosen, it can’t be changed.
  • We Delved Too Deep. Removing the slaad’s control gem destroys the creature, who returns to Limbo.

Does the statue in Monkey See Monkey Do have HP or AC in case the PCs do try to beat it to death?

HI, I'd like to incorporate these encounter into the table of random encounters while travelling, in ToA. What's a good way to do that do you think? Thanks!

There are no stats for Wilden Willow Watchers (from the Weeping Grove) encounter. Nor is that an official monster that I can find. I see that some of the monsters are from Beasts of Jungle Rot, but I thought everything used here was supposed to be reprinted here.

5 out of 5 stars. This has some really fun challenges to add in to spice up the TOA encounters. Highly recommended, especially if your players have already done some of the typical TOA stuff.

I noticed that the Monkey Stone Golem has 49 HP which doesn't fit the formula of 9d6+18. That would be 58 HP. If the Con was 14 or 15 with a +2 mod then 49 would be the correct value. I am assuming that you either change the CON and forgot to change the total HP to 58 or you changed the total HP to 49 and forgot to reduce the CON. I am probably going to go with the higher HP and CON score but just wanted to give you a heads up. Great work on this product.

What are the challenge ratings of the new creatures? I don't want to buy and then find out everything is too low level for my party. Thanks!

It looks great, it just has the inconvenience that in the first encounter, "Beacon of Spirit" the bottom left image is above the text and it is impossible to read about the Shrine of Ubtao.

Great adventure supplement. There are some really deadly encounters here for sure. I've converted it to a Fantasy Grounds .mod file if you want it.

I'd be really interested in this if you'd be amenable to sharing it. Running tonight so would be good.

Rules Edition(s)
Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
