The Amulet of Shavaka

The Amulet of Shavaka!

The Amulet of Shavaka is a tier 1 horror themed adventure by P.B. Publishing. It is a Dungeons & Dragons 5e adventure designed to be completed in about 4-6 hours of play.

Adventure Level Scaling: Almost every combat encounter, unless noted, has been calculated to present a tough challenge (upper end of Hard) for four characters of 2nd level – that is, APL (average party level) is 2, though level adjustment notes are provided for each encounter along the way for levels 1 & 3.

The heroes have been approached by a finely dressed human wizard named ‘Elel’. He advises that he has been searching for the group for some time, having learned of their bravery in recently overheard bard’s tales. Elel offers the party a mission; enter the Tomb of Shavaka at the edge of the desert and retrieve the lost Amulet of Shavaka.

The amulet was last to be seen, many years ago, disappearing into an ancient tomb deep within the desert, around the neck of a daring adventurer in search of the wealth of a long-dead king. It and its wearer were never seen again. They say that the undead now walk the tomb's passages and no local villager will go hear it.

Are your players ready to enter the tomb in search for the Amulet of Shavaka?

The King awaits!

Resources Required: To run this adventure, you will need; The Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Players Handbook, the Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Monster Manual and the content supplied within this adventure.

Setting Information: The Amulet of Shavaka is designed to be a drop and play adventure that can fit into any setting and any campaign. The tomb need not be located in a desert setting, and a savvy Dungeon Master might place its entrance in the wild, now overgrown, wilderness.

Am i missing something? The text references a map for the temple, but only the map of the tomb is included. Am i just overlooking the temple map? I can't see the referenced items on the tomb map (pressure plate, dashed line, etc.) which leads me to think there is a second map that I do not have.

Hi Jackson,

There is only one map. The reference to the "temple" simply means the first floor of the dungeon, the temple part. Beneath (2nd floor down) is the tomb.

I hope this clears it up for you, please feel free to email me at: if you want to chat about it further.

Kind regards

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
