The Dawnbringer's Dilemma

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Dawnbringer's Dilemma is the first in a trilogy of adventures designed for a party of Tier 1 characters. For this module, the party is expected to be composed of 1st- or 2nd-level characters. If higher-level characters are permitted, they will find some of the encounters less challenging and will likely ascend to Tier 2 before playing through the complete trilogy.

In this installment of the Clerics, Nuns, and Mummies Trilogy, the player characters are approached by a lone and battered cleric who is seeking help. Dawnbringer Keiran Margole of the Keepers of the White Gate is the only member of her party to escape an ambush by Zevon and the Iron Grass goblins. Believing that her acolytes were taken as slaves, she offers the party a reward for freeing them and providing an escort back to their convent, Samara's Vigil.

This adventure contains:

  • 19 pages of content including:
    • Detailed backstory
    • Role play/shopping setting information for the town of Soubar
    • Random encounter tables for Soubar and wilderness travel
    • Detailed goblin warren delve with multi-path scenarios, traps, and surprises
    • Player and Dungeon Master maps of Soubar and The Iron Grass Warren
    • Full creature stat blocks
    • Full magic item descriptions
  • VTT-compatible maps of Soubar and The Iron Grass Warren
  • 4+ hours of adventuring and role play possibilities

The adventure continues in:

Part 2: The Covenant of the Convent

Nice starting adventure!

I ran this with a group of 4, 3 of whom had never played pen&paper RPGs of any kind. I'm coming from 2nd edition (ran it when it came out, back in the olden days) and this was, for me, a nice adventure to run and get comfortable with the rules. Very memorable for the players - they are eager to play again, so this works for me! Finished it in one night, but good opportunities to stretch out some role playing if that's your group's thing. I liked it!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
