Vohtark's Prison

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Looking for a spooky one-shot to terrorize your friends for Halloween? Look no further than the haunted island of Ironchain.

Abandoned a hundred years ago, the island prison, Ironchain, crumbles slowly to dust. The madness that caused this destruction lingers on, waiting to corrupt any who set foot on the island's shore. Those who do risk death and insanity, but the beckon of Vohtark's long lost treasure is hard to resist.

Vohtark's Prison is a difficult, horror themed adventure for a party of 5th level characters. It takes roughly 6 hours to play. In the adventure, players explore a haunted island, seeking the legendary artifact, Vohtark's Box. They must tread carefully as they deal with twisted monsters, insane prisoners, and a host of traps created by the devious wizard, Vohtark. A variety of plot hooks ensure that the adventure is easily slotted into an existing campaign, or played as a standalone one-shot.

Includes custom maps, monsters, and magic items!

*Requires Monster Manual and Dungeon Master's Guide to run.*

Land on the island if you must, but make haste, time is short.

I'm planning on running this adventure in about a week or so and really enjoy the premise. There are some issues, but nothing I can't figure out. Mostly things that take a bit of puzzling out, like the enchanted cooking pot in the barracks being listed in the appendix (I had to read through the whole adventure to figure that out). Also, going by the dimensions of barracks, the relative size of the island is much larger than 220 ft. across. About twice as big, depending on where you're measuring. Some grammar/punctuation/formatting issues as well, but those are mostly me being nit-picky.

I'm really looking forward to running this adventure for my friends. I like the wide variety of monsters and the lore is neat. I'll be sure to leave a review when all is said and done to let you know how things went and how we all enjoyed it in the end.

Hello!
Thanks for the feedback. You are correct that the island is not listed as the correct size. This is now fixed in the most recent version, along with a few other typos.
Hope you enjoy the adventure, and I would love to hear how it goes!

Hi, I noticed a couple errors: page 6, section 5c: it references itself at the end of the section;
page 7, end of section 6: after "...attack the trespassers." "The portal is one way..." <--What portal?

I hope this is the right place mention these. I'm planning to play this game and I'm hoping you can show me the corrections. Thanks; I can't wait to play this!

Hello!
Thanks for purchasing Vohtark's Prison.
You are correct, area 5c should refer to the Cave area 6. This must have sneaked through when some numbers were changed earlier in the design. I'll update the file to correct this.
The portal is in the ceiling of the chamber, and is reference in the first paragraph of the area.
Hope this helps and that you enjoy playing the adventure!

5c should refer to Cave area 3, in fact. My apologies for this mix-up

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
