Nerd Immersion Review here.

Character Options: Talents II is the follow up to the best selling Character Options: Talents.

It has over 270 talents that will cover archetypes, classes, races, skills, and even feats from Xanathar's Guide to Everything/Unearthed Arcana series, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, Elemental Evil Player's Companion, the Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Player's Handbook!

It covers the following new races: Aarakocra, Changeling, Deep Gnome, Duergar, Eladrin, all four Genasi, Goliath, Githyanki, Githzerai, Minotaur, Revenant, Shifter, Tiefling (Abyssal variant), and Warforged.

It also supports the two new classes Artificer and Mystic.

I am wondering if you are going to come out with another version that includes some of the added races from Ravnica and other other books. One of my players is playing a Loxodon and is sad their are no talents for him.

Hi Kimberly. I can't give out any details yet, but the short answer is yes, I am planning a new talents book. Again, just planning right now as I am taking a month or two off after Monster Manual Expanded II. ;)

Our table is loving the additional flavor and role customization these talents provide. I have a similar question to Damian's: with the official release of Eberron and the rewrite of the Artificer class many of the talents are no longer applicable. Are there plans to redo those talents so they align with the new class features?

Hey! I'm quite enjoying this document and the first one (this one a little less since most of the talents are subclass/feat-specific and my players haven't been getting many of those) but I have to ask - why is the Aasimar missing from here? You have every other Volo's playable race (bar the monstrous ones) but no Aasimar.
Customer avatar
Dragonix M September 24, 2018 8:21 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi Damian! The reason the Aasimar are not covered is because Talents II came out before Volo's. The other subraces were included in the Unearthed Arcana series and thus I was able to include them. I was able to add the Aasimar, and the other official races that were part of Volo's, in one of the appendices of my latest book, Monster Talents.

Ah, I see. Does the Monster Talents book also contain talents for Grungs and Tortles?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M September 25, 2018 1:28 am UTC
CREATOR
No. Only the aasimar, firbolg, goliath, kenku, lizardfolk, tabaxi, and triton are included.

The tortle and grung can possibly be included in a future update, but i'll need to get a copy of their official sources first.

I noticed a significant issue with the Bladesurge talent. As it stands, it merely states they make a saving throw. It doesn't specify what ability they use. Can they use any?

Hilarious Jest Talent: it has a prerequisite of being College of Satire, but is all about using Cutting Words. Satire Bards don't have Cutting Words, only Lore Bards have that feature.

Edit: the description of Improved Breath of Knowledge for Mystic is also incorrect. It refers to stunning a creature with a weapon, which the benefit has nothing to do with.

Dragonix M December 21, 2017 9:21 pm UTC

All fixed. Hilarious Jest should have been for College of Lore. Heckle should be Satires.

A couple of questions:
1. In the 'Ambuscade' talent it says that you can take an extra action or, if you are surprised, you are no longer subject to those effects. The prerequisite is that you have the 'Alert' feat, which gives you essentially immunity to being surprised so long as you're conscious. Is this worded as intended (i.e. solely for avoiding being surprises during rests) or an oversight?
2. 'Combat Reflexes'. Is freeing up a reaction while still allowing AoO balanced in your playtests?
Customer avatar
Dragonix M October 27, 2017 10:32 pm UTC
CREATOR
Hi Reece!
1. It was an oversight. I had copy-pasted the Ambuscade definition from an old UA ranger version and forgot to remove the 'surprise' section. Thanks for catching that one. I'll edit it out in the next version.
2. The first version we playtested was part of the UA's fighting style Tunnel Fighter. It was balanced in this way because it required the fighter to be in a stance that required an action to use. My mistake was removing the stance and never thought of an abuse that could take advantage of it. When someone pointed out that a fighter/rogue with reach could infinitely immobilize anyone who moves in within 10 feet, I changed the talent to only target creatures within 5 feet and you can only make up to 2 opportunity attacks now, but still without the use of a reaction. After a playtest, it was more reasonable.

Personally, I would have changed it to expend your reaction on the first Opportunity Attack, but then allow the second one to be performed without using a reaction (that way, you still have to spend your reaction to make OAs, and can't do shenanigans with spells and whatnot).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
